  1. My handwriting looks like I should be left handed, which I'm not. One time a handwriting analysis told me that, since I wasn't left handed, my handwriting showed that I am highly neurotic. Stupid woman......

Darn, darn, darn - I have a top all done for a baby quilt, and today I put the back together. Then I laid out the batting to make certain that everything fit. Which, of course, it doesn't - I have a crib sized batt and my quilt is bigger than that. So, Mr. WWM is out at a meeting and he called me and I asked him if he will stop at Hobby Lobby and get me a full size batt. Heaven only knows what he'll come home with. But if it's a tank model I might be upset......

  2. bummer about the back :( but heh, what if he comes home with both? ;) Is that ok? :D

  3. Hi Linda, what I call a purse is what you guys would probably call a wallet. And what you call a purse is what I call a handbag!

  4. That's what I thought...I vaguely remember MCW refering to them the same way when she was here. Also you said "capacious handbag" so I figured something that big was like my purse!

  5. I can attest to the fact that Linda likes to send handwritten notes and that they are a pleasure to receive :) I only ever say thank you via e-mail, though :P

Mr. WWM is home - and he got the right stuff!!!!!!!

  8. Was laughing at reading the comments about handwriting, I remember a time when I was complimented all the time on my cursive writing. Now my hand shakes when I write too much or it just hurts, I still love to send handwritten notes and cards. Haven't tried a letter of much length for the last couple of years though. Used to be able to type over 125 wpm too and now that has slowed down to about 75 wpm, keep thinking a good excuse but haven't found one yet.

  9. Hi all!
I love Linda's cards, too!!! And I happen to love writing notes by hand! We always got grades for handwriting in school so it just became a habit to make it look as nice as possible.

I'd like a martini, if any are around. Long day here, too! Work, ran to GG's for Glen's liquid benadryl which makes him foam at the mouth, went to walk dogs and couldn't since dog owner forgot to call me in to the guard gate, so left and ran to Glen's vet to exchange liquid benadryl for capsules. A 20 minute ride later, they tell me they're too busy and to come back about 3 hours later! Stopped for coffee, went to Target, went back and walked the dogs since the owner had called the gate. Went home, napped an hour, went and fed Glen, drove all the way to his vet and got the meds, went and walked dogs again, and now back at work. Phew! Working till 9, then walking dogs and going to GG"s to give Glen his pill since GG is working the hockey game and hopefully I'll be home no later than 10:30.
As WWM would say "I haz a tired!"

  10. My word. I'm out of breath just reading that GD. Think you should lay off the coffee and definitely have more martini's instead.

  11. But I'm worried if I switched, I'd just fall asleep and the pups would have to walk themselves, gym-goers would have to check themselves in at the gym, Glen Jr. would keep sneezing without his benadryl.....

  12. I was going more for your life passing by on the background music of 'dont worry, be happy . . .' I need to figure out how to make that song the ringtone on my phone o.O

Posted 6 months ago by Skyron #

  13. Sounds like a good idea, Sky!
I'm looking forward to a weekend off next weekend. I've picked up a lot of new dog-sitting clients lately which is nice since I need to furnish my apartment, and holidays are coming up, and living at the apartment will mean an increase in rent. But I do need to find some time to relax!

  14. Hello everyone!!!
GD, glad you are all moved in and picked up more dog sitting clients. :)

Posted 6 months ago by bumblebee #

  15. Thanks, BB! I may do something "crazy" and actually take a Saturday off to get a full two days off some time. Of course it would have to be when I don't have dog-sitting to take up my time or it defeats the purpose.

  16. Glad you are settling in GD--I know what you mean with work. I had my homebound student cancel, so this is the first day in over a week that I was home on time. My four-pawwed friends were wondering who I was....

Posted 6 months ago by SoxsMom #

  17. Lol, I know that feeling! I had one couple cancel last weekend. They were going to Cancun, as was Hurricane Rena. I was so relieved, it was ridiculous! Then again, I already had two other jobs for the same weekend!

  22. Peeks in while I am still awake, appears that all is quiet on the home front and in the cafe/missing night shift. Was watching more of the stuff I had dvr'd on tv and ended up with the tv watching me, lol. But I did renew my subscription for Cat Fancy, it is prob the one magazine that I actually read cover-to-cover monthly.

    This is too funny....

    THE POTTED PLANT OWL STORY

The Potted Plant Eagle Owl live stream is a window into the world a pair of wild Spotted Eagle Owls who were forced to nest in a potted plant on the balcony of a Allen and Tracey in Johannesburg South Africa. Developer's greed and the destruction of their natural nesting and feeding habitat has been the backdrop to an amazing story of how these Eagle Owls have adapted to survive and breed in man's harsh environment for the last 4 years.

THE FIGHT TO SAVE THEIR ENVIRONMENT:

Initial attempts to local environmental agencies to stop the developers fell on deaf ears and the trees were felled and the wetland left devastated. Allan and Tracy decided to fight back and with the help of a live camera and Africam.com, started a petition to stop any further development. Within days more than 27 000 people from around the world had signed and they were inundated with emails with people willing to help both financially and with advice. A further case was laid with the Department of Agriculture and Forestry to stop all further work and rehabilitate the wetland.

On the 25th of June 2011 the decision came back and they ruled that all development had to stop with immediate effect. The developer has since put in an application to appeal the decision and again The Eagle Owls need your support to save their natural nesting and feeding habitat from destruction.

Here's a cool article about the Potted Plant Owl on Africam Read Article

Follow the story as it unfolds through Allen and Tracy's Blog

or the Official Potted Plant Owl Facebook Group

    Estimated Timeline of Events:

    · Nesting - usually end of August.

    · Laying of eggs - nesting begins with the laying of the 1st egg. The female then lays another 2 eggs (usually) - each egg is laid approx 48 hours apart. Total estimated time for laying of eggs is approx 7-8 days.

    · Incubation period - approx 30 days from the last egg laid.

    · Hatching of the eggs - as above - approx 30 days from last egg laid.

    · Eyes opened for the first time - approx 12 - 15 days old. Lovely to watch the chicks trying to focus on objects around them.

    · Games and curiosity period - once the chicks are bigger (from approx 25 days old), they start moving around a lot more, flapping their wings, playing with objects in the pot, standing on the lip of the pot

    · Wing flapping / testing of wings - starts from 33-36 days old

    · Chicks flying - Our chicks flying starts anytime from 40 days onwards.

    · Fledging - with the location of the nest, the chicks are with us for longer than they would if the nest was low to the ground. We have the chicks for 57+ days from when they are born. In the 2nd year, we had them for over 70 days.
