Hi ALL! The cafe is busy for early on a Monday morning....I do hope your "noise in the wall" issue will get resolved, GD....we sometimes hear mice scratching on the one wall in the basement, my boys are mesmerized by it, lol....also we have had numerous birds fly down the flue of the fireplace and get trapped, lots of fluttering there, too. GD, please go to the doc and get some meds :) Hope you feel better soon!!!!! Hugs to those that need them and well wishes for those coping with problems!!!! Hope you all have a nice day!

(((Joan)))
Of course I now feel much better - usually do once I'm no longer lying down and once I get some hot coffee in my system. But I have so much going on, and don't have a lot of time to sleep at night and I know I can't afford to not sleep during the 5 1/2-6 hours I have available to do so. -
Morning, all. Really not looking forward to work today, for obvious reasons. Mr. K wants to go out for dinner to use up a stupid Groupon (I HATE those things), but I really don't want to. We did enjoy the Rockettes yesterday, that was fun.
GD, I hope you feel better soon & get the scary noise in your walls resolved - yikes!
Deb, thanks for all the adorable links, much appreciated in this little corner of the universe. May I reciprocate? http://cuteoverload.com/2011/11/13/milky-way-2/

Glad you enjoyed the Rockettes, Kilroy.

Quiet afternoon in the cafe. I'm taking a short break with a glass of soothing ginger ale and a Maine Coon cuddle. Thought I had a cold the past few mornings - headache & sore throat, but symptoms seemed to ebb once I got up, yay (except for the stuffy nose)! Let's keep it that way - drinking lots of water to fight off evil germs.

Sorry Kilroy, I know you are glad of the cushion of not being laid-off immediately, but it is going to make for a rough couple of months. Hopefully once the shock wears off for everyone, the well meaning hugs and conversations will die down. In the mean time, just go in, do your thing and keep your head down.

Dog adopted saved the family...6 hours later he stopped someone from breaking into the house!

Jeez Kilroy, thats harsh on your coworkers. Here in SA we have a law that stipulates that your workplace must give you 30 days notice before laying you off, they cant just send you out the door like that. I cant believe it. And just the other day they were saying on the news that the recession is over. Methinks not.

Oi, I know about crowned teeth. Rather take some ibuprofen or something now, before the tooth really starts swearing at you.
I love nature, but on days like today I would happily blow up every tree within a 2km radius. And the flowering season is only starting now. Doesnt end tiil February :(

I know the feeling, Sky! Sorry about your blooming trees!
I had a loooong day (again!). Did manage to call and meet with the property manager about the critter in the attic and he looked the building over and found a couple of exterior smaller holes whatever could be using for entry. The exterminator is coming tomorrow.
And I made it to the doctor. I now have full-blown asthma, with bronchitis to boot. Good news is he gave me a nebulizer treatment in the office and that make me feel much better, though jittery. Second piece of good news is the chest x-ray he insisted on shows no pneumonia which he thought it may.
The bad news - he feels the exposure to cats and dogs are bringing on the attacks! He wants me to stop pet-sitting! He kind of gave up trying to get me to give up the boys, but he felt strongly about the pets. I asked him if the dog walking would be okay, as long as I don't sleep over at people's houses with their pets, and he said no, any exposure is bad and he says pet-sitting is not the right job for me.
I'd be upset, but really, there's no way I'm giving up the pet-sitting! I'm going to make some changes, and hopefully that'll help me feel better. My boys will have to be banned from the bedroom. They will also get bathed once a week (I hope!). I'm still waiting for the Furminator I ordered a gazillion days ago, and once I get that, there will be a lot of furminating going on. A friend mentioned getting a vaporizer. I'm considering a HEPA filter as well - do any of you have one? Does it work?
Any other suggestions? -
HEPA filters are amazing. They really help with dust, thougt I'm not sure if it will help with the pet hair allergies. My recent round of allergy tests confirmed my cat hair allergy, as well as just about every other substance produced by nature.
I found what really helps is to wage war on the cathair. I vacuum the whole house at least 3 times a week, my sheets get washed every week, sometimes twice if necessary. And I didnt bother getting a lint roller - big rolls of packing tape for getting fur off of my clothes. One thing that has really helped with the night-time wheezing is sleeping with towels over my pillows, I change them every day, that way absolutely no breathing in cat hair. Oh, and I changed to all-white bedding. Sounds silly, but I can see the cathair on it, and it helps to see when its time to change the sheets.
-
Lol, my sheets are dark blue - perfect because Milo is my shedder and he sheds white hair.
I may look into a HEPA filter. I like the towel idea. I'm planning on not letting them in the bedroom, though. THis way there wouldn't be cat hair on my bed and not on my clothes in the closet - until I walk out the bedroom door, anyway :)Linda, I have to work it out! I've landed a great dog-walking gig and it's too good to pass up. Plus it'll be really hard to swing rent and expenses without the pet-sitting income.
I'm going to tell people I can't sleep over with their dogs, first of all (maybe except for a couple of hypo-allergenic ones). And I'm thinking of having clothes dedicated to pet-sitting and dog-walking, that I can put on when I leave to be with dogs and change out of when I come home.
I already wash my hands excessively, but will be conscious about doing it even more now.
And I'll have my meds to take, which should help.I have a bout of bronchitis right now, too, by the way. I'm getting antibiotics for that. Got steroids and inhaler for the asthma.
Linda, I did see the Amazing Race - even taped it for GG. And it looks from previews like they'll spend the next leg of the race there as well!
