  1. Hi there,

My new kitten is 16weeks and has been ill since I got her with diarrhea. I took her to the vet because there was blood in her poo and she has been on all these medicines for a week now: one antibiotic to stop infection and two different worming pastes. She doesn't seem to have the runs anymore but is only pooing once a day, is this normal?

Also she still had blood in her poo, any ideas as to why this is still happening or does it take time for the blood to stop?

  2. It could have been worms. You can click on the pink tags on upper right for more chats on subject. I would contact your vet with blood question.

  3. Pooing once a day sounds about right. Like JK, I would ring the vet to ask about the blood, but this can happen with parasites.

  4. If she was on antibiotics, it would be a good idea to put her on probiotics for a while (such as Holistic Select Transition Solution) to replace the good bacteria. It may also help with the blood in the stools, at least it can not hurt.

All of my cats (including when they were kittens) only pass a small stool every 2-3 days. They are fed a raw diet, so their body can digest it incredibly well. The point: the better the food, typically the less they poop.

  5. Thanks for all the replys. I took her back to the vet in the end and I have more pastes to give her and capsules to replace good bacteria in her gut. Apparently her gut just needs to settle and the blood is most likely a tear in her butt that will heal in time. Thanks again.
