  1. Good morning, all.

The kits slept in today and are busily directing the catering truck from Panera and Bob Evans. Coffee is brewing, hot water for tea or other warm drinks and anything you desire is at your disposal. Even light fare for those indulging later today.

The cafe is decorated in Fall colors with cornucopias and flower arrangements alternating on the tables.

The wee kits are playing by a fire being watched over by the older cats.

Come in, grab a cuppa and something to eat and tell us your plans for the day!

  2. Happy Thanksgiving, JBBM. For many years we have been too far from family to get together with them so I cook a feast and we invite others who can't be with family. We've had up to 14 guests before but this year we only found one "orphan", a college student who goes to our church. His roommate might come too. I love cooking and love Thanksgiving. Oh, and tonight I'm looking forward to a family movie night. My sons have never seen "Home Alone" and they are just the right age to enjoy it. They love physical humor so I know they will be giggling the whole time. Hope you all have a happy one!

  3. Good morning, JBBM! Are you ready for the kitties?

I slept in till 7:45 and got a full eight hours of sleep!! I've got two houses of dog-sitting today, plus my friend's cat to look in on - not as many as other years as I actually turned down a few gigs this year to keep my sanity. Got up and walked the dog this morning, stopped by Starbucks for a coffee to go (panera is closed) and drove home to hang with my boys to watch the Thanksgiving parade. Will be going to GG's parents' later for dinner, which I'm looking forward to.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone has a nice day. Going to watch the parade and look for Kilroy hanging out of a window at Columbus Circle, lol. Then I'll make the stuffing and we will head down the mountain. Mashed potatoes done and apple crisp done.
Got my annual serving of "Alice's Restaurant" this morning!

  5. Morning, EC! I love Home Alone! It's definitely on my must see during the holiday's movie. My mom used to feed "orphan" Marines (which by the time I was a teenager caused great embarrassment (cuz they were cute) or great rolling of the eyes - depending on my age and/or mood!). Enjoy the day!

GD - so glad you got some great sleep! Sure makes a difference, that's for sure. My brother will be here shortly with the food and boxes and he's going to help me move some things that are too heavy in my laundry room, then plug in the Feliway and off to get them! I'll be home most of the day, just need to run out for a few last minute food items.

I'm a big football fan and am really looking forward to the games today.

We are doing our Thanksgiving meal tomorrow since my sister is not feeling well. More important for her to rest today since she has to work tomorrow. She just got this job (PT - it's at our local hospital) and we'll eat about an hour after she gets off tomorrow. I'm going to cook the casseroles today.

Enjoy your time with GG and his family, GD!

  6. Hi Joan! You snuck in whilst I was typing my book... lol.

Have a happy and safe day!

  7. Morning, all. I take back everything bad I said about dumb tourists in the subway on Thanksgiving; this morning one of them actually let me use her fare card when mine wouldn't work, and there were no dopey people refusing to hang on to things while the train was moving & then screaming when they got thrown off their feet. Plus, I rode the mile or so to work squashed up against (and face to face with) the cutest guy :) (I think I'm allowed to notice, right?).

GD, I'm so glad to hear you got some good sleep, eight hours must feel like a miracle to you.

JBBM, good luck with the kitties! Hope everything goes smoothly and you have a good day.

Morning, Joan! Make sure to look for me waving :)

  8. Morning, Kilroy! Glad the ride to work was um, enjoyable! Yes, you are allowed to look ;)

What time do you get off work today?

I HATE parades on TV so I'll have to miss you waving out the window.

I'm waiting, impatiently, for my bro. I am excited to have the cats. I hope that they adapt okay.

  9. I'm technically here until 6 but I'll probably leave a little early.

Got to the newsroom windows just in time to see Snoopy floating by :) The newsroom is full of excited kids, including one utterly adorable little girl in a red tartan dress & black velvet hairband. So adorable & giggly, how can I possibly be in a bad mood around that?

I'm sure the kitties will do fine, JBBM; what they need most is to feel safe & loved, and we know they're going to get that in bushels with you.

  10. Happy Turkey Day all! Bird is in the oven, heading over to my father-in-laws for the big meal. We are doing most of the cooking and transporting it. Will be a nice, laid back day. Kilroy, don't ya just love how excited the kids get? Good for you GD. Sleep is definitely under-rated. Yay, JBBM, more kitties to love can only be good! Hope everyone has a blessed day.

  11. Yay, here comes Spiderman!

    Morning, Shelley :)

ETA (45 minutes later): And Kermit!

I keep going into the breakroom to get hot choclate just so I can look out the windows.

  13. I saw you, Kilroy, when Santa came thru - I waved back!
I'm off for dinner and football - the kitties will be entertained by the birds devouring their food outside.

  15. Sounds like things are coming right along on this day, good good good!

I am feeling a little tiny bit better, took NyQuil late and early this morning but was woken up by a co-worker who's car had a mishap....so much for sleeping in, oh well such is life.

  16. I'm hanging out with golden doodle Ollie now, watching The National Dog Show. He doesn't seem impressed :)
I'm leaving him in about an hour, shopping in to feed and take out another dog, feed my friend's cat, then home to get ready and be at GG's parents' at 4:30. One family isn't going away till tomorrow, so I only have two houses of dogs today - yay!

  17. Sorry you're not feeling well, Deb :(

Posted 6 months ago by GD #

  18. GD, its getting close to being done I hope, everyone @ work seemed to be in a sharing mood and donated *colds* to a lot of us. Be safe out there in the traffic and enjoy your dinner @ GG's parents :)

  19. GD, I'm sure Ollie is just as beautiful and charismatic as those dog show dogs :)

Hi Deb! Hope you feel all better soon.

Posted 6 months ago by Kilroy #

  20. Ollie says thank you, Kiltoy :)

Deb, I hate co-workers who share colds!

  21. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I must saying reading all your posts I am missing the ritual of Thanksgiving. I have had about 3 in the States over the years. The last one was probably about 5 years ago I guess. It was GD's comment about watching the National Dog show that made me nostalgic. I remember doing that! And watching lots of football. Can someone please pass me some dinner with all the trimmings?

  22. Here comes a full dinner for you, KK - what kind of pie do you prefer? We have apple, pumpkin or pecan :)

Posted 6 months ago by Kilroy #

  23. Thanks Kilroy - a piece of pumpkin pie please! Not a big fan of pecans. I also remember watching the Macy's parade on TV. Ahhh, wish I was there with my US family now in either Tacoma or Indianapolis. :-(

  24. I've been shopping for tomorrow's dinner (we are doing t-giving tomorrow) and still forgot the yams and marshmallows and walnuts! I am NOT going out again! I have a horrendous headache and going to take a nap with the fur-butts (more on them later!) and then COOK!

Posted 6 months ago by Jetta and Boo Boo's Mom #

  25. Hey there KK, just finished watching the National Dog Show in Philadelphia myself.

National Geo Wild has been having really nice specials too on Yosemite National Park, Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon. HAven't been to any of them and hope to go one of these days, until then I will watch them on tv.

Afternoon Kilroy, GD, and JBBM :)

  27. I HAD A WONDERFUL TIME AT MY MOM AND DAD'S !!! no arguments from anyone, and I ended up giving them my new address. they asked about my new home and work. i ate until my eyes nearly popped out of my head. my mom sent food home with me - i think 4 times as much as I brought, including 3 quarts of canned tomatoes. my uncle was there but quiet. he has altzheimer's but still knows everyone's name. he is also able to keep up with a conversation.

it was a great time. i was there for 3 hours and promised to visit more often...

Posted 6 months ago by CSBM #

  28. That is just wonderful Cheri. I am SO happy that you enjoyed a nice day with mom and dad. Nice your uncle was there too. Leftovers are the best on Thanksgiving!!
I saw SNOOPY go by too! Love the balloons! I was switching back and forth from two channels watching the parade, while doing other things in between. Was SUCH a beautiful day. I hung two blankets out on the line to dry and walked around the yard to pick up a few sticks. The sun felt SO good! The cats enjoyed as well. :)

Posted 6 months ago by CSBM #

  30. Hi everyone - I totally ate too much! Time to kick back with some ginger ale, and contemplete a turkey snadwich on a dinner roll. There's always room for leftovers when you wait a few hours :)
