  1. Yes, you read it right, the black cats are taking over! They have cleaned and scrubbed the cafe and have the night shift in full swing.
Shelters in the area are trying to get as many black cats and kittens adopted this weekend as possible. Fantastic campaign, don't you think?
By popular demand, tonight's special is PUMPKIN PIE!! You can have it with a scoop of ice cream or a dollip of whipped cream. Wash it down with Baily's or some hot or cold apple cider and of course, it goes great with a KOTSW!
Of course, there are plenty of Thanksgiving leftovers too.
    HAPPY BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

  2. Just moved my story from the end of the Cafe to the NS...... thanks for opening up Joan!......... how was your day? want a good laugh? read below:

Who looses their credit card on Black Friday???!???.......................ME (eeeeekkkkkkk............!!!)

After swearing that I would NEVER get involved with the Black Friday crowds, Mr. AV and the kids and MIL convinced me to ride along with them to the Verizon store to get MIL's new android phone............... Mr. AV drove. At the same time Mr. AV wanted the Verizon guy to help him sync his new Droid tablet to the wifi camera he just got............... "oh, no one will be at the phone store - they're all shopping in the malls and Target"............ begs my family...................... so I 'cave' and get in the car............ that was 8.5 hours ago!................... turns out the new Samsung tablet wouldn't work with the new Samsung camera........... the operating systems in the camera are actually already obsolete, and it can't be upgraded ! ugh......... technology!!!.......... sooooooooooooo after two hours with the very nice Verizon man, we had to go to Best Buy (seriously mobbed) buy a Cannon camera that 'supposedly' will work............ then to Comp USA to return the Samsung camera - which they refused to do because it was over their '14 day' return policy............ so I pitched a little fit, and they finally said the would take the Samsung camera back if we bought the Cannon from them.................. ok, so I did that........... get in the parking lot to go back to Best Buy to return the Cannon I just bought, and no credit card in pocket!!!!............ run (not walk) back into Comp USA in a total panic (did I really just drop a credit card in a mobbed store on Black Friday??!!)............... practically tackel the store manager, sobbing about me dropping my credit card, luckily for me the girl at the door said, oh yeah, some woman just turned in a credit card she found on the floor!.......... thank the dear Lord, it was mine!........................ by this time, I was hyper-venilating......... Mr. AV was a cool shade of white , so color started to return to him..................... and we still had to go back to Best Buy!!!!

..........................can I have a PITCHER of KOTSW, please! *whew*

Posted 6 months ago by AV #

  3. OMG, AV! I would have been freaking out too. Hurrah for the woman who turned in your card.

Posted 6 months ago by Kilroy #

  4. Yikes, glad you found your cc amid the chaos, AV. *a big black cat puts the finishing touch on a pitcher of KOTSW for AV* Want some pie?

Posted 6 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  5. Wow that must have been really stressful! How wonderful that there was an honest person out there :)

Posted 6 months ago by Kit #

  6. ............... I cannot tell you how relieved I was!!!!............ yes, good to know there are good honest people out there! ...................

............... pie and KOTSW............ sounds great!!!!!!

Posted 6 months ago by AV #

  7. Oh my AV. That is scary. Poor mr AV. I wish some technologically empowered person would figure out a way to attach an electronic 'something' to valuables - in my case it would be my cellphone & keys - that you could could press a button on and the lost item would start yelling "I'm over here you idiot!!!" . . .

Posted 6 months ago by Skyron #

  8. Lol, thank you for the visual and thank goodness for the honest person who turned the cc in!

I am trying really hard to rest, really rest before I head in to *that place* tonight (ok it took me seven times to type that, headache is pounding)....

I truly hope that everyone has a good night or afternoon today.

  9. I like the black cat night shift! I fed my two stray black cats earlier :)

I know it's late in the day, but if any of you want a good deal, go to PetsMart! I went twice today! Got the most adorable purple plush blanket with cats on it (and went back and bought a second one as a present), got great deals on cat toys, got healthy dog treats at less than half price, and the boys' favorite canned food was 35 cents a can! Don't know about the first trip, but the second one, I spent $19 and saved $16!

  10. oh Deb, hope the head gets better!.............

.. Sky, I think there is actually a 'key' finder thingy that is like a lojack on your key ring............. I think Brookstone or Sharper Image had them......... I seriously considered getting one for my 81 year old mother, who can't EVER find her keys!

Posted 6 months ago by AV #

  11. AV, I think its Sharper Image that has them, and thanks for the hopes on the headache.

  12. AV, how terrifying to lose your card! Glad you got it back. Total bummer about the hassles with the cameras and phone. Really aggravating that a manufacturer didn't make their own brand of cameras and phones compatible. Here AV, have a good relaxing beverage and try to regain your sense of harmony.

Meant to go to Petsmart today to stock up on cat food at big discount. But have been coping with major arthritis flare up all day and managed to get a triple dose -- yes, I think triple, not double -- when I had to use the asthma inhaler. Spent the afternoon crashed on the sofa feeling like a space cadet after that. Hard to believe some people actually abuse drugs to get that feeling. Ugh. I HATE using the inhaler and will be getting a new one tomorrow since this one dispensed WAY TOO MUCH beyond normal dose.

Anyway, farthest I got from the house today was the mailbox at the end of the driveway. But that's okay. I'm alive and kicking and feeling better (of course at the end of the day).

Posted 6 months ago by Marnet #

  13. Marnet, while most of the PetsMart deals were today only, the canned food deal goes through dec 1st. GG is going tomorrow and I may go back and pick up a box for The Humane Society.
    Hope you feel better!

Posted 6 months ago by GD #

  14. Marnet, hope you feel better soon :)

I may have moaned about this before, but I feel the need to moan again - there should be laws against keeping roosters in suburbs!!! I have enough trouble sleeping as it is. I dont need a blooming chicken to be making noise at 2am in the morning. What kind of rooster starts crowing at 2am anyway?? Thought it was only supposed to happen at dawn?? *swears quietly*

Posted 6 months ago by Skyron #

  15. oh Marnet, sorry for the asthma and arthritis issues!........... no fun!......

.... GD, that's nice of you and GG to donate a box to the Humane Society

.... Sky, whining is free here, no worries!.............. and what kind of rooster does crow at 2am???!!! LOL

  16. I honestly dont know how his owners live with it. They live 3 houses down the street from us. I would have shot him with a katty by now if I was in their situation. I wont report them to the spca - but I really wish it was possible to put a muzzle on a chicken. Or one of those no-bark collars, just on a smaller scale . . .

Posted 6 months ago by Skyron #

  17. Oh wow that sucks Skyron. I'd be really annoyed by that too. I have some good news and something to be thankful for. For the first time I've EVER seen my brain damaged kitty Casper was playing with another kitty! Not getting mad or anything, actually playing chase with Theresa and understanding and responding properly to her social signals. It was amazing to see :D Also Theresa got to meet our god daughter Genny. She was REALLY freaked out at first but after an hour or so they were playing together, it was really cute and I made some videos so her daddy in Afghanistan could see too :)

Posted 6 months ago by Kit #

  18. Wow Kit. I didnt know you have a brain damaged kitty. Stump was also left brain damaged by toxoplasmosis. What is Casper like, emotionally speaking? Before he got sick, Stump was a normal kitty. Now he has 2 temprament settings: PO and not PO. He almost never purrs, or seeks any social contact with people or other cats. Does Casper have any of this?

Posted 6 months ago by Skyron #

  19. Evening all. AV - you deserve that bucket of KOTSW! What an ordeal!
Marnet, sorry you're feeling lousy. Sky I would not be impressed with that rooster. In NZ you're not allowed roosters in the suburbs for just that reason! Kit, that is great about Casper - I hope it continues.

  20. Evening KK!............. is it still all windy and blustry where you are? ........... our holiday yesterday was 80 degrees!............ I'm so ready for cooler temps!...............

........... actually it's nice out, still shorts weather for the most part! .......... tomorrow, the family is going to make our annual 'get the Christmas tree' and decorate party............ have lots of leftover turkey fixings, should be a good time!

Posted 6 months ago by AV #

  21. Skyron, I call Casper my autistic kitty. He's very sensitive to change, doesn't communicate very well. He has frontal lobe damage from being hit by a car, he's never mean, he's never scratched or bit me on purpose, he's usually content to be by himself on my bed or in the cat room. He doesn't like when we have strangers over, makes him very anxious. One time I moved a fan from my dresser to the floor and he poofed up because of the change. He seeks contact with us but hadn't with other cats until Theresa. Oh and he purrs up a storm when he's snuggling with me or hubby :) So his is a bit different.

Oh and they just started playing again right as I typed this up :D

  22. awwwwwww Kit, that's wonderful!

  23. Hi AV - it's breezy here but MS has it extremely blustery up at her place. Lovely and sunny here and the cicadas are singing. It's our general election today so we have been out and voted. Unfortunately the party I voted for will not become the government, so we have 3 more years of the 'buttheads' we have now. (Unfluffy thoughts).

Posted 6 months ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  24. Evening folks >^..^<

KK, lol on the *buttheads* we have them here too and it really doesn't matter what party they are, they are politicians!

Kit, that is great about Casper :)

Sky, hmmm perhaps the rooster needs dark-out curtains, or he heard the song about it being 5 o'clock somewhere and adapted it to its *dawn* somewhere (lol sorry couldn't resist, had a rooster where I lived last that would start anywhere from 1-3 a.m. every morning).

AV, it was warm here today too without the breeze.

Still feeling under the weather or whatever is the description for today. Nose is running like a faucet that cannot be turned off, head is filled with cement pressure throughout its entirety and the eyes are watering like I am crying with all the itching to go with it :( Hope that my voice stays but then again if it goes away again like the last 2-3 days, no one will hear my true opinion of them while @ that place!

Posted 6 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  25. Deb, maybe that will be a blessing in disguise for those at 'that place'! ;-)
I hope you feel better soon - you and MS are both a mess.

Posted 6 months ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  26. KK, lol it just might be a blessing! I know its sad that both of us are dealing with these stuffy head and itchy eyes.

    I love Christmas lights...

  27. Good evening Shifters, we have gale force winds yet again and I'm starting to go crazy with them. They do have their upside, no need to comb the hair as it's blown all over the second you open any door, washing dries very quickly but it's the downsides of hot winds, dry gritty eyes, hayfever, headaches, plants lying flat and totally dried up, trees thrashing about and threatening to fall over and making so much noise you can't sleep. Eeeeeeeeeeeepp! ! !
As KK said it looks like another 3 years of the "buttheads" with 'Mr Smug n Smiley' at the helm of our fair nation(lots of unfluffy thoughts) but maybe we'll have a miracle.
Marnet sorry about the arthritis and asthma, they're a pain and worse when they gang up on you at the same time.
AV, do you not have PIN numbers on credit cards over there to prevent anyone just finding a card and using it? If not then I can understand the OMG ! factor.
Hey KK, whadda you mean I'm a mess? So I have hayfever and I limp badly at the moment, just you wait until you get here and I'll show you I can still stand on one leg and kick your butt with the other(just hold my hand so I don't fall down though please). LOL

  28. Ouch, this security guard could very well be TSA material!!!

Jan, lol!!!! See you on the other side of the witching hour if you are still awake :)

  29. I've just realised that it's past 6pm and I haven't even thought of anything for dinner. Guess I had better go and see if Shadz is at the door asking for her dinner, at least I can do that.
I'll see you later in the evening Deb.
What an ogre that security guard was, whatever happened to common sense and discretion.

  30. MS, try kicking my butt after a pitcher of KOTSW martinis!
