It's a grey and drizzly day here in joisey, but the weather is purrfect in the cafe. Kitties are cooking and baking and grilling and making sure the endless fountains of every drink are running smoothly. A soothing cool breeze flows thru the windows to the south; a cozy low fire burns in the fireplace at the north side.
Some cats and kittens are ready to play, having just woken from their catnaps, and others are looking for laps to settle on.

At work, drinking my Mt. Dew since I'm not a coffee drinker. Didn't sleep good last night because Resa decided I needed a heart attack. She ran out the back door while we were feeding our big doggies. Neither would hurt her on purpose but Kai is a husky and plays really rough and one time he killed a stray that got into the yard :( I was devistated! Luckily hubby was with Kai and he never even noticed. My Loki noticed but he grew up with kitties and was just curious which scared her, she poofed and ran back inside as quickly as she ran out. Still I almost had a panic attack and felt like crying for a few hours afterward and the adreneline rush ruined my sleep. Still she's ok, I'm ok and hopefully she won't do that again!

Aw Kit, how scary. I'm glad Resa is OK.
Must be something in the air making our kitties think we need to have the wits scared out of us; I came out of the shower this morning to find George sitting on the table with the handles of a plastic bag wrapped around his neck(!). He wasn't freaking out or anything, just sitting there calmly waiting for mommy to help him, which she did. Yikes. When I think about all the things in our apartment that he could get into, I wonder how he's still alive.

Wow, glad Resa is alright, Kit. Comet likes to chew plastic. Great. He startled us this morning, just minutes after Leela settled down with me. He made a half-attempt to jump to my dresser, and when he fell off, he took the runner and a bunch of things on the dresser with it. I didn't bother to even open my eyes; it was still dark out and I figured whatever fell would be waiting for me when I got up anyway.

Definitely no snow here, JK, just looks like it. It finally cooled down a bit and temps are in the mid 70s which the dogs really loved for their walks this morning.
I'm home now after dog walking and the post office and I'm going to be a good girl and take a nap for an hour. The boys are quiet (for now) so seem like a good time. -
Morning everyone :)

Possible bit of good news on the job front; the woman who laid us off gave my name & the name of one other researcher to someone she knows at Reuters who is trying to put together an investigative research team.
Hi Linda and everyone! Joan, so happy for you that you got to spend some time with a foster kitty. I hope Quincy gets a home soon.

Keeping paws crossed for you Kilroy! Aw, fun with Quincy Joan.
Okey, another Cheese & Sausage platter in cafe too for all to enjoy from cheesehead kit Crockey! ( I haven't had that in ages too. One of the places I used to work at had Friday "Packer Parties" with those same noms...it was also a great way to get interested in local sports!)
Now, where is my coffee cup for I need a warmer than back to "that place"! -
That sounds promising Kilroy, crossing my paws as well.

I just saw a commercial on our air in which the word "heels" was spelled "heals". An actual, televised commercial.
*sigh*
On a brighter note, I was checking out the woman who might be hiring for Reuters and she graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. I have a very tenuous connection to UNC, but it should be enough to start a conversation.

Hope Reuters turn up trumps for you Kilroy.
Had to take Pickle to the vet yesterday - the abscess got worse. She is now on antibiotics and is absolutely fine. I have to give her one tablet twice a day. What joy! So far I have three major punctures and a few scratches, including one quite nasty one on my left index finger knuckle. Only 5 more days (10 more tablets) - will I have any unmarked skin left? *Sigh*

Oooooh, sounds like a good opportunity, Kilroy. My fingers are crossed for you!
Just got back from grocery shopping and dog walking. Dog walking was fun - almost stepped on a two foot black snake and got yelled at by a guy who got barked at by the dog I was walking :(
Went shopping for stuff to make a pasta and shrimp soup tomorrow. It's supposed to cool down into the low 50s, so figure I'll make soup and take it to GG's tomorrow after work. I'm working hard at learning to cook!

Rain changing to snow here in Michigan tonight! I'll take a cup of hot chocolate and a "lap-lock" to keep me alert and focused on my w--k. A lap-lock is what we call our kitties when they sleep on your lap and keep you from getting up. Our current foster is one; such a teddy-bear. My husband is falling for him; unfortunately, Carter hasn't yet figured out his place in the colony. Lots of growling, grumbling and fat-tails every evening.
