  1. Good morning, all! The newly remodeled cafe is open!!
We're celebrating with all kinds of brekfast goodies - eggs, ham, bacon, hashbrowns, grits, oatmeal, bagels, pastries, waffles, French toast, cereal - you name it, it's here! Of course there's also coffee, teas, juices, milk, hot chocolate, apple cider etc.

    Come on in!!!

  2. Morning, GD. Gloomy, foggy day here in NYC. I have today & tomorrow off, so yay for small blessings. Work isn't much fun these days.

George was a brat last night & kept waking me up.

  3. Good morning GD & Kilroy! Yep, pretty foggy around here. Sure not in the mood to go out today. Would have loved to stay home and do some decorating and baking. Maybe later.

  10. Wow...the cafe looks furbulous! Thanks GD for opening up today and Joan for alerting us to the deocrating/remodeling over the weekend! Sorry I missed the grand opening but this is pretty great in itself! Mmm, menu is tempting and smells yummy too! Paw up waves hi to Av, Soxs, Joan,LK, JBBM, Kilroy & GD. I will grab a waffle w/some strawberries and a smidge of whipped cream plus another little smidge for Tux and my java to go! Back in a bit, later! BTW it is snowing big fluffy flakes this morning. (It must for it is St Nick's eve day and he won't show unless there is snow!)

  11. How festive, SM!

  12. Wow, see now you're making the roller rink look shabby :) . I would like a bowl of oatmeal with apples, dried cranberries, blueberries, cinnamon, and a drizzle of maple syrup; some maple-glazed bacon, two poached eggs with cheese, and a cup of peppermint tea. PH spilled water on my cell phone yesterday; since that's the only way I can get on the Internet, I had to take it apart, dry all the components I could with a paper towel, and stash it in a box of rice. It may not be fully dry, so I'll need to take it apart again and stick its components back into the box of rice for the day.

  13. Morning Vicki, your breakfast sounds great! Oh I hope that the drying works for your phone.

Ok time for a nap and then its meeting a dear friend for lunch :)

  14. Hey Vicki - there was extra pink paint, plus there was talk of getting glitter for the roller rink...

  15. Got my self a basic black suit today for hypothetical possible future job interviews. Found it at the same place I got the awesome purple flapper dress I wore to stepdaughter's wedding (Burlington Coat Factory, where Mr. K also got his beautiful suit for the wedding), and I paid the same as I paid for the dress ($30). Another thing I can check off "things I need to do/get" list I made after the layoff was announced.

  16. Kilroy, you're reminding me of those Burlington commercials where they brag about the deals they got there. I love getting a bargain too.

Posted 5 months ago by ecbrown #

  17. I enjoy finding bargains too ECB, usually that is the basic justification on making the purchase. Sounds like a good plan Kilroy! Wow, it is still snowing here but only sticky to the grass at the moment. I need a warmer on my cuppa joe and baack I go to more fun on a moanday. (Almost forgot, need to check out the weekend's star-kit line up for more fun at lunchin' time!)

  18. It's a good thing I found an interview suit, because I just got a phone call and I HAVE A JOB INTV! OK, sorry to shout, but yay! It's for a law firm library job, which wouldn't be the most exciting thing ever, but just the fact that they called me is encouraging.

  19. Woo hoo for youuuu! Paws, fingers, eyes, toes crossed for you Kilroy!!!

  20. Good for you, Kilroy! I'm sure you will find something great soon!

Speaking of finding stuff, I finally found a Christmas tree stand! Can you believe yesterday both Target and Walmart were out of them!! Walmart completely out and Target only had a couple left for 10 foot trees - yes, I have a lot more room now, but I'm not planning on having a ten foot tree! Had to drive to my old neck of the wood to go to the gym and change my credit card info so went to Target out there this morning and finally found a stand for a tree up to six foot - much more like it!

My goal this week is to accomplish ONE thing per day and no more - no running around doing stuff all day from 5:30am to 9:30pm! Today I cheated and did both the gym thing and Target, but I had to get the credit card changed before they charge tomorrow and since tomorrow's one thing will be getting a tree, I need to have a stand ready for it.

  21. Oooh, Kilroy, you snuck in behind me - YAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!! (yes, I'm shouting, too!)

Posted 5 months ago by GD #

  22. Thanks guys :) Like I said, it wouldn't be the most exciting job but I figure it doesn't hurt to go to the interview just for the experience. The last time I did a job interview was 15 years ago, and that was over the phone.

I have to say that getting a response this quickly has really made me feel better about the situation. I don't have to jump at the first thing that comes along, and in fact I really don't want to start somewhere else until mid-February, so I can work through our last day & get my severance money. Plus, now I have a chance to figure out what I really want to do next, now that news librarianship has essentially dried up.

Thanks for all the cheers & support and good vibes.

Posted 5 months ago by Kilroy #

  23. Great news, Kilroy! Working through the end of your job there and getting severance definitely sounds like the way to go!

I've been bad. Was going to only run one errand today, but I HAD to stop at the grocery store and because of that (sort of), I'm now spending my nap time making turkey meatballs!

  25. Double fun in TDK land again...anyway I would like a double dose of caffeine to continue with this pm fun!

  26. Glad to hear about the interview Kilroy. A couple of practice-runs are always helpful.

This morning I was at the vets again at 7.50. Pickle has been in another fight and this time has a damaged eye. The third eyelid was badly damaged and part of it had to be cut away. I now have to give her another course of antibiotics AND put cream in her eye twice a day. Deep joy. I also had to fork out another £50 for the privilege.

If she's not careful I'm going to get myself a pair of tortoiseshell slippers!
