  4. Guess no one is hungry!! :(

  5. Awwww - Don't be sad! The Americans seem to sleep late today.

  6. I'm not hungry but could probably use some Chai tea. We had the poop scared out of us yesterday. There was a 9000 acre (yes -9000!) brush fire here in West Texas. The wind was blowing in excess of 40mph so the fire spread really rapidly. The police came to our neighborhood and went house to house to tell us to evacuate. We grabbed a few papers, the kittens and left but were so worried to leave our home. My husband had turned on the sprinklers and watered but we didn't know if that would be enough. The fire came, they said, within about a mile of where we live. After two hours, effort by lots of firefighters and water dropping helicopters, we were allowed to come home. These things happen in California but I guess I never thought of it here. All of Texas is in such a drought that the fire hazard is so high.

    I have a headache!!!

  7. OMG wwm, glad that your are safe :)

  8. Thank you, AL! What we learned is that we are totally unprepared to evacuate so quickly. I ended up throwing pretty worthless stuff in a bag and leaving some important things that we would have needed. We're thinking that we should have an emergency bag that we keep packed and ready. Catching Windi was one of the hardest parts. Poor baby - she was terrified. I'm sure that they could smell the smoke and knew that something was wrong.

  9. WWM, I'm so happy y'all are safe. Nose pokings to Willow and Windi. -> ->

  10. Thanks, Miu! Willow hissed for hours at Windi after we were able to come home. Poor Windi - Willow blames her for everything! When they went to "the spa" Willow was quite convinced that it was entirely Windi's fault. And Windi is just so clueless!

  11. I think that I'm off to sew a bit because I always find that to be calming (except when I totally mess up!). Hopefully there won't be any more disasters today! Although all of Texas is still under a red flag fire advisory.

    Please send rain, somebody!

  12. OMG, we are under a fire advisory for tomorrow. Better get the hurricane stuff ready to evacuate ... but the good news is there are no fires at this time.
That is soooooo scary W&WM.... be safe..

  13. WWM, one thing I would suggest (and this is for everyone) is to take all of your photos and convert them to a digital file and burn them all to CDs. Then, put those CD's in a safe deposit box.

That way if anything does happen, your photos are safe.

Posted 4 years ago by Instinct #

  14. That's a great idea, Instinct. We could also scan important documents and burn them to a CD.

Please stay safe, WWM and SOM!! I'm glad you have had a practice evacuation, WWM. Now you have time to pack what you really might need in an extended absence from home.

  15. Exactly true :)

    How's your morning going K??

Posted 4 years ago by Instinct #

  16. I am easing into the morning with a strong cup of hot coffee and Furl on my lap. :-)

    How is your morning, Instinct?

  17. So far so good. Wife is asleep since she was up till 5am doing homework and I've just been sniping at Berkley, CA on my blog and doing animation. :)

  18. I don't think I ever pulled an all-nighter when I was in school. I always rationalized to myself that being well-rested would make me more efficient the next day.

How is your Camero model coming? Any new pics you can e-mail?

Posted 4 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  19. Sure, I've mostly been correcting things on it and getting proportions right, but I can send you what it looks like

Jamie's always been a night owl, so it work for her I guess :)

Posted 4 years ago by Instinct #

  20. I'll keep my eyes open for the e-mail. I never got in touch with whatever artistic talent I may have. Too much of my childhood was spent coloring inside the lines. :-)

Posted 4 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  21. OK, I'll send it probably later today. I have to take the shots of it and everything.

Never too late to get into doing art, it is one of those things you can do at any age :D

  22. Don't go to any trouble, Instinct. Whenever you get to it is fine with me. I hope you are getting some of the sunshine I'm seeing out my window!

Posted 4 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  23. We have a lot of sun here today and this afternoon I am going for a nice long run :D

  24. Instinct, Berzerkly? Freudian slip or intentional? Hah!

Posted 4 years ago by paulajeanne #

  25. I'll let you decide on that one Paulajeanne :D

  26. An excellent idea, Instinct. I thought of pictures yesterday but didn't even know where to begin. There are way too many to transfer but if I had lost the ones of my family I would have been devastated. I have original pictures of my great grand parents and to lose those would just be awful.

Posted 4 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  27. You can take them and have it professionally done at some photography studios. They can do an excellent job of not only scanning them in but retouching photos to restore colors or repair defects

Posted 4 years ago by Instinct #

  28. But what about those that are big, like 8"x12" framed? I got to thinking about it today - they are irreplaceable but you can hardly go throwing huge, framed pictures into the car in an emergency. What to do???

Posted 4 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  29. You might be able to get a photo shop take a high quality photo of the larger photos and make you a negative or digital file on a CD, WWM. I've done that with old family photos so I could make multiple copies in any size for other family members.

Posted 4 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  30. KW is right. A professional shop should be able to make you a digital copy of the piece no problem. Some places even have camera scanners that can handle a large wall size painting
