  1. As lovely as the chatting on Tuesday's cafe thread is, I figured it was time Wednesday had a thread of its own.

The cafe kits are firing up the stoves and setting out hot drinks to get people started. The omelet station is ready to go, and the kittens are setting up the breads (oops! A bagel just went rolling across the floor - go catch it kittens!)

Anything and everything your heart desires is available, so come in and relax, and start or end your day with friends.

  2. Hi Kilroy! *sidesteps out of the way of an impromptu game of kitty hockey with a bagel*
Bought my Christmas ham last night. I need a recipe for a honey glaze, though. There will only be 5 of us so I didn't feel like getting into a big spiral ham. It's a nice size boneless ham - less mess, takes up less room in the fridge and much less expensive!

  3. That sounds perfect for your holiday, Joan. My big project this year is making Swedish meatballs. I should try to get my Mom's recipe before we leave, but I doubt she has it written down anywhere. I did find one on cooks.com - yowza! Not exactly a health food :)

  4. Yum, your holiday food chatter is making my brain think I am hungry Kilroy & Joan! I'm invited out to relatives this year and am bringing a dessert & wine!!! Wee...fun with bagels for kits today! That sounds good as a bagel w/salmon shmear with a very large joe to go Tux, now a smooch for you and back to more am fun! Paw up waves to anyone who stops in to have a happy humpday!

  9. Hi neighbor...how are the boys today...behaving for Santa is showing up at hour house this weekend?! (Lucky visited last nite and the both of them were being ornary...I told them Santa was watching but it didn't seem to help!)

  10. My boyos were good last night as far as the tree goes....yup, Santa will leave something for them in their stockings, IF they are good :)
Behave, Lucky and CrockPot, or no treats from Santa!

  13. Thanks for the recipe Deb!
    Hi JK & Kat!
Sure hope Santa doesn't pass by our house - Comet has been a little wild, borderline bad boy. He is just playing, but dainty Miss Leela doesn't appreciate being tackled by him. She really should have decked him good when he was a little kitten! Guess she takes the "be good for Santa is always watching" to extreme!

  14. Joan...I think its a girlkit thing...Dot was always purrfect, um...except when she called Crockey "meathead" after a swipe...tee hee!

  16. Joan, my favorite ham glaze is to take gingerale and a dollop of pineapple preserves and reduce it down in a saucepan and then glaze away. Ginger and pineapple are ham's best friend. For a small ham I would use a can of gingerale and a generous spoonful of pineapple jam. If you don't have pineapple jam you could combine crushed pineapple in juice with the gingerale and maybe a spoonful of brown sugar and reduce it to about half of its volume and then glaze. Sometimes I add cloves to the mixture while it is reducing and sometimes I don't. I am not a huge cove fan, but some people like it with ham.

  17. Thanks KYK, I love ginger ale and pineapple! I don't have pineapple jam but can pick up pineapple chunks and crush them.

  18. Won't take but one or two whole cloves in that reduction to impart a lot of flavor.

Posted 5 months ago by jeankit #

  22. JK... Maybe you should float a couple of cloves in your cuppa joe...just for old times sake, and that special memory. :)

  24. Afternoon everyone.....

Well tried to sleep, gotta love when those doing their testimonials ring your doorbell...I was kind of polite, just told them they woke me up and to go away and shut the door....have I ever mentioned I HATE the doorbell, I don't care what the sound, noise it makes I don't like it in anyway at all...then a car alarm went off, thought it was mine but no it was the woman across the street who needed to talk as loud as she could :( So much for the sleeping portion of the program I suppose, sigh.

  25. Check out stripey Soap today's star-kit, finally!
Hi Deb...ssh, a few more winks for you as zzz...

Posted 5 months ago by jeankit #

  26. Oh Deb, I'm sorry about all the disturbances. Phooey on the doorbell ringers, do they really think they're going to convert people that way?

I wonder if there's a way to rig your doorbell with an on/off switch, so you could turn it off when you're trying to sleep?

Thanks for the heads-up, JK; Soap is a cutie!

Posted 5 months ago by Kilroy #

  27. Kilroy, I could disconnect the wires to the doorbell but since I rent vs own this house, I feel uncomfy doing that. I have tried even duct taping over it and a sign saying DO NOT RING but ppl seem to go around it because obviously it wasn't meant for them....kind of like STOP signs are not for every driver :( I would never, ever turn it one if I had a choice, I absolutely hate the sound of all of them they make my teeth hurt even.

    Thanks JK :)

Isn't today's kitten cute as can be...

  30. Evening all, oh Deb that sucks monkey toes about the doorbell ringer and car alarm.
It's wet wet and even wetter here today and HRH is out in it. I just popped my head around he corner of the house looking for her and found a blackbird sheltering against the back door in a tiny strip sheltered from the rain, awwww.
