  1. In honour of our Mums 90th birthday(KK & mine) we're having a bit of a birthday party Cafe.
We had an "Afternoon Tea" party for her this afternoon and all her old friends were invited. The backyard was all set up with a gazebo and umbrellas to shelter us from the hot sun, we had posies of sweet pea flowers and one very nipped out cat.
So for the Cafe we have dainty sandwiches and savoury pastries, carrot cake and hedgehog cake, asparagus rolls and lemon muffins all followed up with a beautiful whiskey infused fruit cake with whiskey butter cream icing decorated with a beautiful 'patchwork' plaque on the top.
Sorry I can't stay long but I am knackered and hve ugly cankles from being on my feet too long. So I have a bourbon laced coffee and once it has gone I will be off to bed.

  3. Hedgehog cake? Millie wants to know whether it was our hedgehog who comes for dinner every night.

Yum, yum, I need a coffee too now. Sounds like a lovely party, MS, I hope you all wore floaty tea dresses and nice hats! Nighty-night, as it sounds like you have already toddled off to bed!

Hey, Deb, how are you tonight? BRB when I have bagged some refreshment.

  4. Evening Jane, I am here on my Friday (with only 3.5 hrs left) so it can't be all bad. How was your day?

Posted 5 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  5. Aargh, sorry, Deb, got sidetracked by an email from work, answering a question I had asked them earlier in the day (when they weren't there yet, lol) so then I had to go and correct a paper and resend it to them just now and still haven't got my cuppa, off to get it now. My day was good, it was beautiful and sunny. I wasn't very good at getting any paperwork done but I have nearly finished every last skerrick of the hedge cutting (just a few feet to tidy up along the top to go) and it looks FANTASTIC, I am very proud of myself! Thank heavens I don't have to do it again for another year though...

  12. Morning, all! It's also my friend, and the boys' Auntie Ellen's birthday today! And happy birthday to your mum, MS!

Can I have a coffee, please? The one I got at Dunkin' Donuts this morning is almost undrinkable! I suppose it's partly my own fault, since I accidentally wore a sticker on my temple (!) when I went there, and distracted the coffee-mixing woman. I have a habit of pulling lables off water bottles and folding them, and I guess a piece of it had stuck to me :)

  13. Well its about that time for me to wrap things up, only a bit over an hour left and I do like to leave it tidy for the next shift.

Hope that everyone has a wonderful day or evening as it may be :)

Posted 5 months ago by Siobhan #

  15. I think I was the Publix brand, Siobhan. I wasn't wearing a price, so don't know what I cost :)

Posted 5 months ago by GD #

  16. GD, lol!

    Morning Siobhan :)

Ok really going now, be back later when @ home a bit later.

  17. Hello! Happy birthday to those who are having a birthday or will have one for the rest of December. We have a partner here at work who was born on Christmas Day. When he was younger, his family tried to give him birthday gifts and Christmas presents. But as he got older the gifts were for both.
I'll be heading out for my son's tomorrow to celebrate Christmas with the family. So I probably won't be back on the computer much until after Christmas. So I wish each and every one a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

  18. MS and KK may you and your family have a wonderful time celebrating your Mum's birthday!! 90 years of a wonderful life, may she be contunually blessed!

Don't worry Cheri you can start celebrating your birthday in both time zones!

LK please have a safe trip and enjoy your time with your family! Merry Christmas to you!

  19. LK, have a fabulous time with your family!

I was reminded yesterday of the Tell Us Tuesday thread about regifting. When I came into work, EBL pulled me aside and told me she had left me a present on my desk. She specified that she had only gotten something for a couple of people, so make sure not to open it here at work. So I opened it at home and discovered why - it was a container of cocoa butter creme that Big Boss' trainer girlfriend had given her last month when they'd had a falling out. She obviously didn't want TGF to see that she regifted it to me. And she must not have realized that I saw TGF gave it to her. Oh boy!

  20. Happy 90th Birthday to MS's Mum! Hello everyone!

Posted 5 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  21. EBL may be a bit tacky GD, but if it is something you will use hopefully you can brush it off.

Posted 5 months ago by SoxsMom #

  22. I will use it, SM, but knowing her, she'll hold it over my head now, that she gave me a present.

Posted 5 months ago by GD #

  23. Lol GD, that's a hoot! Happy Birthday, Mum! MS, what's hedgehog cake?

Posted 5 months ago by paulajeanne #

  24. GD she is going to use a re-gifted present over your head? Simply state that you were given a gift--there is no leverage there unless you give it to her.

I had to look it up PJ, I found this, but somehow think that it is not what MS is talking about! http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/hedgehog-cake-90171.aspx

  25. I found this one too: http://www.parsleysoup.co.uk/getrecipe.php?section=kids&recipe=hedgehog_cake
And they have some great recipes there!!

  26. Lol SM, that was a cute cake tho! Watched The Fat Ladies make a hedgehog meatloaf on the food network once. What made it hedgehoggie was that they stuck chicken livers in it all over the top! Ick!

Posted 5 months ago by paulajeanne #

  27. EEWW not fond of liver in any form. However I decided to try some thing new. Someone at church made oyster stuffing--I normally eat the regular stuff--the oyster stuffing was delicious!
