The excitement is building by the minute in the cafe - soon it will be Christmas Eve, when Bridge kitties will see their hoomans, though we don't always notice they are there and trying to get our attention! Make sure you look and listen carefully!
Agency kittehs know this and are preparing for a huge party - so huge they are starting today! The halls are fully decorated and now it's pretty much fun and games, with some cooking and cleaning up in between. Fresh noms keep emerging from the kitchen; everything you could possibly want is here.
Watch out for the kittens playing soccer with a plastic ornament!

[Stepping carefully around the soccer field] Coffee break sounds good. Do the kittehs do holiday shopping? or at least give gift ideas? I'm not done yet!
Crazy cats! Willow-tater no longer seems to want to play chase-and-wrestle games with Catkin. Last night he was feeling his oats (mice?) and tried to pounce on Polly- she was NOT amused, leapt on the nightstand and hissed at him. So he pounced on Willow at the head of the stairs; they were wrestling and Willow was making angry sounds, so Carter came up to watch. He must have gotten too close and got whapped with a paw; for a moment there was a tri-colored ball of fur writhing on the landing; then it broke apart and cats shot out in all directions, sending objects flying...

Nice poem and beautiful b&w photos :)
Getting ready to go out for lunch and see about maybe getting a new phone.
Jean, I took stollen in to *that place* the other night, they all enjoyed it.

Cool pics and nice poem too! I like the pic of Patti Smith, and the Poe painting is neat. Can't tell if the Hemmingway kitteh is a polydactyl. Interesting pic of Andre Bazin and his cat exchanging the same look!

Have a terrific office party JK. I am here enjoying a java and just had to tell someone, ANYONE, about how delicious the Christmas party cake my husband brought me from work was. It was a type of vanilla sponge cake with whipped cream frosting and raspberry and whipped cream filling. It was so lite, you could easily have dinner and appetizers and still eat the cake! It had very pretty decorations too.

Have a great time JK! After an office party, you're allowed to coast for the rest of the week :)
KK, that cake sounds heavenly - I can almost taste it!Posted 5 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Goodmorning all, a trifle grumpy here as I was woken from a deep sleep by the neighbours yelling for their dogs who had run off, grrrrr, they should have had cats! Oh wait they do, it's their cats that sneak into my house and gobble up Shadz biscuits. Hmmmmmmmmmm
KK and I have been sorting out what we're having for Christmas dinner and who is doing what. It's all steam ahead now with Christmas only two days away.Posted 5 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Morning, MS. Evening others!
Another busy day today and I'm looking forward to going home tonight, lighting my tree and relaxing with the boys who have seen way too little of their mama lately.
Unfortunately, before that, I have to make two dreaded phone calls. I have to call two of my volunteer drivers and tell them we "don't need them" this year for the tournament. One is 85, the other 82 or so. I don't much care for the 85-year old but that's beside the point, these guys have volunteered for the tournament for a decade and I feel horrible telling them they can't this year. If it were any other position, it would be one thing, but I can't possibly let them drive, it's just not safe. I can't hurt their feelings and tell them they're not good drivers when they've been driving for over 60 years and I can't tell them it's age-related, either. That would certainly upset them, and may (if they get upset enough) provoke a lawsuit.
The 82 year-old is the dear old guy I found a girlfriend for on a dating website a couple of years ago and he was so happy! I feel terrible doing this to him :( -
GD, if their poor driving is the issue, is it really for the best to not tell them to avoid hurting their feelings? If their driving skills have deteriorated and they do not realize it, would it not be better for everyone in the long run if they were informed of people's concerns?
People who are unsafe to drive put themselves and everyone else at risk.

The 82 year old drives alright, but last year, I noticed how he was easily confused, went to the wrong pick-up places, got lost, brought back the wrong things from the store, etc.
The 85 year old is a cranky man who not only isn't a good driver, but is putting people off with his crankiness.I hate confrontation, but I'm telling myself that if I want to be the boss, I have to deal with this. Arrrgh!

Good evening all!
Went to the Dr. with my killer sore throat this morning before work. Got antibiotics, and worked the rest of the day. Advil does help and actually cough drops help with the pain a bit. :( OUCH! I cried last night a bit as I couldn't go to sleep for the pain. :( -
Hello! Sorry you're not feeling well BB. Hope the meds kick in soon.
I've got lots to do, clean the house, wrap EVERYTHING and make cookies and a dessert. (Oh, and work 1 more day, lol.) I really want to do whoopie pies, but if I run out of time, MIL's b-day is in March...Posted 5 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Oh BB, I'm sorry your throat is still giving you pain. Keep up the warm salty water gargles.
GD, it's never easy making those type of phone calls, try not to feel bad though.
I think I finally have all the food shopping done and tomorrow will be a day spent cooking and wrapping. Tonight it's 'time out' as Meegz is holding her annual Christmas Girls Evening, we're watching The Princess Bride I think with nibbles and drinks. Hope I can still cook and wrap tomorrow.
I'm just taking a wee rest while checking on the latest quake that happened in Christchurch an hour or so ago.Posted 5 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

The Princess Bride - great movie! (Archery? Tell me you won't go! Ok, I won't go!)
Channeling WWM: BB, make sure you dissolve 2 asprin in that warm salty water.Posted 5 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

I'm off, taking Mr MS out to join his mates for the evening so I can have fun at the Girls Night. See you all later.

4. Hey – no kidding, I’m sure that’s the can opener.
3. Would humans have built a vast and complex civilization of their own if we cats hadn’t given them a reason to invent sofas and can openers in the first place.
2. If there’s a God, how can He allow neutering?
1. If that really was the can opener, I’ll play finicky just to let THEM know who’s boss!!

What a fella.
With a bow
Santa’s a go.

He’d make any elf smile.Posted 5 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #
