First off, thank you to those of you who have asked how mom's cancer treatment is going. Thank you to everyone who has prayed, sent healing white light and well wishes. It is because of you mom feels she is doing so well.
She completed her 22nd out of 32(total) radiation treatments as of today. She has not burned much at all. Because she currently has no teeth (waiting for treatment to be over to be fitted for dentures) she has been creative with eating. Ensure is her new best friend. She tires quite easily and naps a lot. When radiation is over, she will wait six weeks and then begin five rounds of chemo (each round is 6 weeks. One week on, five weeks off).
Her hair has fallen mostly out. She was surprised this week when the American Cancer Society took her wig shopping. She got to pick any wig for FREE. The wigs were provided by donors. She was greatly humbled by this gesture. It still chokes her up.
Finally, she has developed a common side effect of breast cancer- lymph edema. It is pretty massive swelling of the lymph nodes on her left side. She cannot use her left arm. She begins therapy next week. I told her she will be amazed how much it will help. It's funny my mom will be stepping into "my" world when she goes to therapy. Maybe she will finally understand what we therapists do for a living!!!
