  1. Hello I have a 4.5 month old kitten :) I've had her since the end of october.

I really really want to switch her to a different brand food. but the thing is my kitten is a really really REALLY picky eater.

She won't eat anything I give her , only thing she'll really eat is Iams kittens proactive health dry food
which I heard is not good for her.
She won't really eat wet food either. I've tried a variety of flavors.
She isn't sick either. I took her to the vet quite a few times and he said she was healthy and she has all her shots :)

    I'm really frustrated.

I love her reguardless :) and thats why I want to switch her over to a healthier food like Blue Buffalo. So I was wondering how will I be able to do that and how I can get her to eat something else?

    Any help would be great.

She's a ragdoll kitten if that helps :)

    Thank you!

  2. Hi there. All 3 of my cats were adopted at the 4-6 month age range and all were eating a dry food. I wanted to switch them to a healthier diet and was able to switch them to canned. I made sure meal times were scheduled (not free fed) and added a plop of canned next to the dry in their food bowl. Then I kept increasing the amount of canned food and decreasing the dry. Here is a website I found helpful. She gives advice on picky eaters...those who resist canned food.

One important thing I learned is that before offering canned food make sure they aren't being "free fed" dry, but are only offered a measured amount at meal times. If they free feed, they won't have the motivation of hunger to encourage them to try a new food. You never want to starve them or make them miss a meal, just not have food down all day so they never have a chance to get a little hungry.

If you mean that you have decided to switch to Blue Buffalo dry, then just replacing a small amount of the Iams with BB each day until you've switched. Taking it slow is best. Good luck.
