Looks like the first big "snow event" is headed toward the mid section of the USA. Snow is to start tonight with heavier snows tomorrow. We have lots of hot cocoa, whipped cream, and marshmallows. Coffee, tea, cappuccino, mocha's, you name it! Comfort foods galore line the buffet, meatloaf, fried chicken, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green been casserole, sweet potato bake, au gratin potatoes, beef stew, chili, and home made pies! I got on my pj's, got my feet propped up and am watching NCIS on the TV. The kits are crawling in baskets to snuggle. There is a lovely Tuxie at the door to show you to a table. Come on in! Enjoy! Me, its cocoa, meatloaf, cheesy mashed potatoes, dinner rolls and of course some wonderful warm apple pie with a piece of what else???? Sharp Cheddar Cheese melted on top! Did I mention, there are NO CALORIES!?!?

Actually, I could use some calories (or about 15lbs, might be easier!)- but anyway I'll have some beef stew and au gratin potatoes with cocoa. And a cat or two to cuddle. Now that winter is coming, my cats have discovered the benefits of the Human Heated Cat Bed at night; the other day Willow (I think)was on my legs and Polly on my chest/shoulder.
Now my husband is from Minnesota, so he doesn't understand why people in Michigan get all bent out of shape about winter snowstorms. Admittedly, many of my coworkers are from elsewhere. Warm places like Texas (which also grows kitten-trees, apparently. They must not be hardy up here :( )

Heck, ladies, we just have a cold rain tonight and I just put my heated mattress pad on HIGH (which guarantees four cats taking all the space!) and my 9 blankets (think it's nine). I HATE the cold. I am NOT hardy. Hard headed, but not hardy! Not when it comes to cold.
I'll have some mint tea to keep my tummy calm.
Catch you all on the flip side...

Hi all - have I mentioned how much I like the resurrection of the night shift? The cafe is just as awesome to me; I'm just in a different frame of mind most of the time!
I would love some hot chocolate with lots of mini-marshmallows. We're getting sleet here. Leela doesn't care a bit - she's passed out in front of the fire. She barfed up dinner again, second time in a couple of days. Looks like hairballs might be the problem. Gotta brush her more.Posted 4 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

AV, dinner sounds great! We had brats on the grill with spinach pierogies and apple sauce.

Evening Shifters, it's great to see so many on the NS.
I feel very much like AV's dinner- slow cooked. It's so muggy here today that there is no chance for this woman to only glow as the old saying goes. We have more rain coming and it's pushing muggy tropical air in front of it. Airy and I have just mowed one small area of lawn, the one I throw the bread to the birds on as they were losing the bread in the long grass and giving me the stink-eye! Huh! ! We now look like we fell in a swimming pool. Ugh!
Anyone want some hot muggy weather? May have a tad of rain attached though?

Hi MS - I only like hot & muggy weather when I'm pool/lake/oceanside. I just had an ice pop - enjoy them year round. I like frozen grapes too, but there aren't any left.
Comet says hello to all of you: "Ahhhwooo!"Posted 4 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Ahhhhhhhhhhhwoooooooooooooo to Comet, from Shadz.
Yum a ice pop sounds perfect and just what we are going to buy at the shops shortly. My favourite, lemon lime & bitters.
Just a sad little mention from the stranded, now broken in half and partially sunk ship in my area.

Hey all!.............. just got out of a nice bath, and am 'chillin' with a beautiful glass of Merlot!................ the purrrfect end to a purrrrfect day! (nice for a break!)..........
............... MS, the 'muggy' stuff is absolutely awful!.......... have WAY too much of it here in the summer, seems our seasons 'mirror' each other! LOL
............ BB, haven't seen 'Clone my Pet', but sounds funny!.... what channel????
........ *waves* to everyone else here, hope you are all having a nice night......... Joan, I too LOVE the 'return' of the NS!..... (thanks MC for opening!)

How sad for the Fellows family, MS.
I would really like to hang around, but it's a school night. Time to start winding down.

Sorry for disappearing, we went for a walk - as you do on a muggy day when you've gasping for air. Yeah, we're crazy Kiwis.
Night night Joan.
At least the Fellows family have insurance but it's all those memories and personal things that are now gone forever in the ocean or washing up oiled on a beach.Posted 4 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

It's a slow evening on the NS and here at my place too. Just had to break up a cat fight outside and HRH is trying to tell me she wasn't involved. Hmmmmmmmm, why is she all puffed p and smoochy then? Meowmy knows what happened.
Probably won't be on here much longer. HRH is settling down for the night and then I can do the same.Posted 4 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Evening Jan, been a slow night here too. Was watching the tube and dang if it wasn't watching me before I knew it, lol. Awww you know she is quite the innocent one, HRH would never ever get involved in a cat fight.

Morning/Evening Ladies! Can't sleep here, how is everyone?

Evening Deb, TV's watching people must be in the air tonight. Mr MS was being watched earlier this evening too. In fact several times, then he thought it would be prudent to go to bed.
HRH is a wuss when it comes to defending her territory she backs off and yowls for Mama. Of course my appearance on the scene frightens off the other cat and she sits there acting as if she saw the bully off.
How's your day been Deb?Posted 4 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Morning MC, couldn't sleep myself. Besides the non-sleeping, how are you doing? I see that there is expected wonky weather up by you.
Jan, I do know the perils of the tv watching ppl, lol. Your description of HRH having Mama back her up (silently of course) reminds me of the picture I see sometimes.....its a little tiny kitten sitting between a huge wolf's two front legs, of course there's back-up! My day wasn't much of anything, went to the store and then dinner with friends, came home and fell under the TV's spell. I see that you mowed, walked and done stuff with it being muggy don't know how much I would have done.

MC, when did you sneak in? You gave me a heck of a scare!
Sorry that neither of you can sleep, that stinks when that happens. Deb, is it full moon time again, I can't see any sky because of yet more rain clouds.
Yes we mowed but we did he bare minimum, all of one terrace for the birds and then a path to Mr MS's man cave(basement) and around the clothesline and a path to my courgette plant. The walk wasn't very long and I emailed you about that. It's still muggy and I have the front door open and the fan on,nearly 24C inside and 20C outside.
MC, how about swapping some of your cold for some of my muggy.Posted 4 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

I will trade you MS! I was just watching the news! They say up to 10" of snow, 40 mph winds and then some -5 to -10F temps! Whoo hoo! Where is SPRING?!?! LOL
I think I couldn't sleep cause this goofy cardiac monitor is bulky and every time I rolled over it did something or it got in the way.

Jan, its crossed over the full moon but cloudy here too (just a bit though. Even with mowing only what was necessary is more than what I did. I need to get back into walking every evening regardless of how I feel.
MC, I know your weather was weird with the warmth the last few days and now snow! Hate that the monitor is bothering your sleep, as if you need something to bother you.

No kidding, the girls already went back to bed! I also hate that I can't use a microwave, can't use my electric blanket and can't take a bath/shower until this darn thing is off

MC, Mr MS had one of those monitors some years back for a week and he found the monitor to be a pain in the a** too.
MC, we are having a very wet summer which means muggy humid days and nights.
Deb, your day sounds as exciting as mine. I was surprised I managed the walk we did without Airy having to carry me back because my knees seized but they didn't. That was a pleasant surprise.Posted 4 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

MC, now that part sucks monkey toes!
Jan, at least I didn't have to wait for the javalina to move from the doorway so I could go into *that place* tonight (since I am off tonight). Last night there were three out of the six standing with their noses to the security door and the crew with their noses on the inside.....couldn't get them to move for about 30-45 mins, they were just looking in the house.

Awwww MC, that sucks monkey toes. We have a friend who had a pacemaker and he wasn't allowed to do welding because of the magnetic field but he was naughty and did until his surgeon wrote to the company and explained the dangers. He lost his job. Now he has had a heart transplant and is allowed to weld again.
Yikes Deb, that sounds wild. Have to laugh at The Crew staring back at the javalinas.Posted 4 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #
-
Jan, it was funny, the javalinas were doing their little quiet huffing (all the while listening to the big daddy scarffing up the veggies outside under the bushes) and the crew all big eyed with noses touching the door. There is a little tiny baby javalina that is a bit smaller than Lil Girl with the herd, I won't even try to get between that one and the parents....they get very protective of their babies. Two of the females kept walking off trying to get the herd to move along, but the ones at the door were busy and the dad was busy so they would just kind of sigh and come back :)

Wow Deb, the most exciting things I get at my security door is a big ugly spider or religious missionaries trying to save me.
Are the javalinas dangerous if you went outside?
MC, have you heard of the Girl Guide camp bath. You wash as far down as Possible and then as far up as Possible and then you wash Possible.Posted 4 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #
