  1. Evening/afternoon all!.................... one more day for me, then a long 4-day celebration weekend!.......... I broke down and went and bought a new Pirate flag.............. I searched high and low, and finally decided it must have been discarded with the numerous other boxes of rags and junk that I have purged over the past year!............. so now, the 'jolly Roger' flies again, and is looking forward to our Gasparilla celebration!

...... I'm still putting together my menu for this weekend..... could have anywhere from 20 to 50 guests during the day/evening, so I have to be prepared for whatever!..............

......... hope everyone is having a good evening!!!

  2. Hi AV, I believe everyone should get a new pirate flag every once in a while. Arrrrrr.
Sounds like you will be having a busy few days the Gasparilla and quests.

  3. Hello MS!..... I really like this flag, the 'pirate-skull' guy has a red bandana, an eye patch, and a 'wicked' smile!!

...... Mr. AV is working on taping off the yard and getting the porch clean/set up for guests.......... I've already had tons of phone calls from friends, spouses and pirates to 'inquire' if I'll be cooking my famous sausage-dogs again, so of course, I can't refuse........

..... still trying to help daughter find a hyperallergenic cat, so am trying to search for a "Siberian" breed near here........... didn't think it would be this hard!.........

  4. Afternoon/evening all. Beautiful summer day here too MS. Had a lovely waterfront walk at lunchtime. However walking past all those cafes and bars makes me want to stop in one for a long tall G&T and not go back to work. I certainly wouldn't want to be standing over a hot stove cooking plums!

Hi AV! Arrrrrrgghhhh! Your weekend sounds like it will be fun.

  5. Sounds like everyone has been enjoying nice days of late, walking on the beach and/or waterfront sounds really peaceful. Neither of which are in Arizona of course, well we do have waterfronts if you want to travel to lakes that aren't close at all.

  7. Evening, I'm officially crazy. I'm standing over a hot stove making plum sauce. It could be a long night.
Just watching 'Falling Skies' between sauce checks.

  8. Hullllllllooooooooooooooooooo? Is anyone still here?

  9. Hulllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooo
Sorry for the slow reply, I'm breathing vinegar fumes here with a little plum and spice in the background.

  10. Hulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo?
    What's that plummy smell ;-)

  11. Plum sauce and I've discovered Mum's recipe she has used for years and closely guarded is Aunt Daisy's recipe.
Was it a scorcher down your way Jcat?

  12. Yes, it was, MS, but I managed to get a bit of the lawn cut despite the raging heat. Most of the time, of course, I am at the computer working away...

But I got my first ever ripe apricot off my apricot tree. It tasted yummy!

  13. I was picking plums in the heat and now I'm slaving over a hot stove on a hot night wishing the sauce would reduce quicker than it is. What on earth was I thinking when I started making 6lb of plums into sauce at 10.30 at night. I think the heat got to me.
Ohhhhhhhhh, you got lawns done, mine need mowing too. How's Millie today, none the worse for her little upchuck lastnight?

  14. Apricot! You have an apricot tree and it fruited? Ohhhhhhhh, I'm jealous. They dn't grow well this far north.

    Posted 4 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  15. Well, there are about ten fruit on it and only one of them was ripe. But I am looking forward to future marvellous harvests. I love apricots. I think I may have to plant another one. Then I might get 20 fruit, lol.

Millie seems fine, thank God, no more upchucking grass, no more toppling off high places, touchwood. She will be the death of me, this kitten.

  16. LOL, two trees for 20 apricots. I'm keeping watch on my nectarine tree, there can be as little as one day between just about ripe and over ripe.
Awwwwwwwww Millie is just keeping you on your toes.
I see we have a severe cold weather warning out for the Sth Island and then heading up the country. Grrrrrrrr, we don't need any more chilly nights. Roll on February with it's fantastic weather, I hope.

  17. Ooh, I love nectarines and I planted a tree the year before last but I think it has died through lack of water :( I don't know why because it's been raining non-stop almost all summer.

Posted 4 months ago by jcat #

  18. This year has been odd that way Jcat, despite all the rain we've had and it's been plenty the gardens and trees are still needing constant watering.

  19. Poor tree, I'm a very bad tree meowmy. Sorry to disappear on you, MS, but it's my bedtime and Millie Billie is hinting that she wants her comfy duvet to curl up on. I am afraid I will have to leave you to stew in your plum juices -- but think how yummy the sauce will be in the months to come. Nighty-night, sweet dreams and sleep well and smooches to Shadz.

  20. Nighty night Jcat, and yes I'm certainly stewing in plum and vinegar aroma.
Sweet dreams and chin scritches for Libs & Millie.

  21. Sweet dreams, Jcat and hi MS. Let me know what you think of "Falling Skies"; Mr. K & I watched the whole first season.

Posted 4 months ago by Kilroy #

  22. Goodmorning Kilroy. We're enjoying Falling Skies so far and we're about 4 episodes in I think.
