My kitten has been with us for about 8 days now, shes gorgeous, i have another cat who is 4 and also lovely, never had any real problems introducing them and they are starting to chase each other etc, getting on great, both are female. A few times aday the kitten will crawl up my front commando style until her head is nuzzled in my neck, she pushes hear head all over my head and face, licks my nose and ears,if i pull my head away she squeeks until i allow her to do it, i sometimes think she's getting abit manic when shes doing it,,is she ok? i thought it was an 'i love you' kinda gesture but i read on another site that it means she's missing her mother, she's 9wks 1day old, could someone help please, should i allow her to do that, i love it - its sooo cute but i also want to make sure she ok and im not making matters worse.

Is my kitten missing her mum

It sounds like the kitten is "marking" you. Cat's nuzzle up against you as a way of putting their scent on you, since they have scent glands in their cheeks. It's purrrfectly normal. Licking is also a way of saying "I love you" Or you have something tasty on your mouth. At 8 weeks she was probably weaned but she may miss mom a little bit. Kneeding and suckling is how they indicate that they want to nurse off you. You want to discourage chewing on you obviously or sucking themselves or the other cat, but nuzzling and licking is fine. I think it's really cute.
It's great that she and her big sister get along great! Watch for signs of them grooming each other. Then you know they are really friends!

She's loving her new 'Meowmy' is what I think. And I would try to nurture her as much as you can because she is still a baby. If you love it I can think of no reason not to allow it--except, possibly: consider whether or not you might want a 6 to 8 pound cat crawling up your front? because for me that could become a problem down the road.
