Hey littermates! There must be a memo to the general population of roaming outside kitties. A mama kitty brought her kittens in yesterday. We had a huge storm yesterday and very early this morning. Three babies, 2 black girls and one that looks like Hadley and Taco. I got them dry and warm on the patio. Really horrible eye infections. I think they might all be blind. This morning we had a horrible storm with hail and lots of rain. I went out at 5 to check on them and could only find one. I spent the next several hours looking and found another one. Finally at about 9 I found #3. All soaked, all shivering and all sick. The "Taco" was pretty bad, including a nasal discharge and rattling chest. Put them in a warming box (trying to keep my boys away) got them semi stable and off to the vets office. Verdict...upper resp infection, eye infection (don't know if they will be blind or not, time will tell). Antibiotics, eye medicine and fluids. I will have a challenge ahead of me. They are also thin and still on mama. Vet says to wean them today and keep them inside but away from the crew! Keep your fingers crossed for these precious little ones. I will do my best. A little white light could not hurt! Love you folks.

P, ask your vet to put them on vibra vet paste. Its a wonderful all-over antibiotic. I once had a kitty who'se eyes were so bad I thought she was blind too (third eyelid was exposed, blood & puss draining out), after two days on that med her eyes were improving. Prior to that she's been on clavamox for two weeks with only minor improvement. Hope your babies improve!

Goodness, Puddytat - the word is definitely out about you! Poor little babies, but if anyone can get them through, it will be you. Thank goodness for your many connections there at A&M!

One decided kitten mush was pretty good. The other two would not have anything to do with it. They are back on the patio (in the special heated kitty igloo) with mom for a bit. I just checked on them and they are all snuggled up with mom. I will bring them in soon and give them their evening meds. So far so good!

A quick update for today. One little black one is improving nicely. Tiny black kitty is showing a touch of improvement, but his eyes were the worst. The one that looks like Hadley is the sickest and I don't see much change. His breathing has not improved at all. I hope that they all make it. They are warm, safe with mom and medicated. I have not had much luck with getting them to eat "real" kitten food. Any suggestions? I can sure use them. I don't think they have any capacity to smell since there noses are all stopped up. Prayers for the little ones please. Thanks.

A bit of improvement on the that are the worst. Abbey has come up with names for the little blind black ones... Stevie and Raye. We are still working on the one that looks like Hadley and Taco. Still no luck with food. I will try the royal canin and some sardines. Mama is doing her best. Still keeping my fingers crossed and a quick stop by at St. Mary's to ask a favor of St. Francis. The young priest is such a sweetie. He asked me this morning which one we are praying for! I am not Catholic but stop by frequently and he is always happy to see me.

All the baby kitties made the night! Morning meds have been given and they are asleep in their box in the kitchen in the sun. Some improvement. Not huge but positive. I will keep them in and warm for a bit then back out with mama. Once the sun hits the patio and it warms up. The prayers are working!

Sad news, my precious baby "Two" did not make it. He crossed over the bridge early this afternoon. He was in my hands and his little heart and body just could not overcome the upper resp infection. He fought so hard. I know in my head that I did everything I could but it still makes me so sad. Stevie is doing really well, not much sight, but some. Raye is more frail but I think she might be getting a bit better. She is totally blind but it does not seem to bother her much. I am bottle feeding her because she is so very tiny. She had taken to it very well. I hope to get her on real food soon. Please think of the little Two. I know that Wilbur and all of his friends over the bridge were waiting for him.
