  1. Yay for Libs, a girl has got to eat when she's hungry!

I know I so hoped it would come back, trimmed a lot of the dead branches off last year and hoped that the rest would take hold....it didn't. Now how did you kill a half of a lime tree or was that 1-2 lime trees.

  2. Don't encourage her, Deb, lol, both my girls are now turning their noses up at their wet food in the morning and then demand twice as much raw meat for supper to make up! The hedgehog is very happy with the leftovers but I am being eaten out of house and home! Plus, Millie needs calcium for strong bones, seeing as she's always doing her best to break them, and there's not much calcium in raw meat :(

  3. I think I have exhausted my brain with chocolate filigree ideas. Tomorrow could be fun and/or messy and with no guarantee that they will turn out as presentable either. I just need something to 'finish' off the cream cheese sweet potato pie that I made today. It is marbled orange & white and eye catching but just needs to be finished.
I still have my worn out & broken windchimes so maybe I could rebuild them using wire.

  4. Forgot to add, peppers blackened nicely on one side, have turned them over, only three sides to go...

  5. It is 1/2 a lime tree, it's possibly on it's last legs at the moment and I'm trying to keep it alive but I don't have high hopes unfortunately.
Jcat, Shadz is turning up her nose at her breakfast too and then gobbling down dinner and asking for more for supper. I think it's our stupid weather that is making them fussy.

  6. Nice on the peppers blackening up :)

Believe I know about the house and home thing with feeding the crew, bought them 'good' food and will they eat it.....no, no, no! But they do like the cheap foods, silly cats.

I have no idea what to finish off with the cream cheese sweet potato pie, where is AV when we need her ideas :)

Use fishing line to fix/repair the windshimes, wouldn't sun rot then or it would be harder to do so.

  7. Ok I understand the half a lime tree, I have done that with an apricot tree (poor tree).

  8. MS, you could be right because my Mum says Sam is doing the same thing. But he could also be moping. He will also miss my brother when he goes back home, Sammy loved my Dad, used to sit on the vanity and watch him shaving every morning and he loves Dominic too (even though it's my mum who feeds him).

Posted 3 months ago by jcat #

  9. Aha, nylon fishing line. We have plenty of that here.
Time to turn the peppers to side 3 Jcat.

  10. Poor Sam will grieve as only a cat can, hope that he bonds with your Mum more now.

Posted 3 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  11. Poor Sam, it's difficult for a cat to understand what has happened in these circumstances. He will become closer to your Mum most likely, slowly but his demeanor will change.

  12. I've just realised it's almost 1am. Way past time I was tucked up in bed asleep.
Sorry to leave you two but I need sleep.
Jcat, how re the peppers? All done?
Nighty night all, sweet dreams and gentle headbonks from Shadz to The Crew,Libs & Millie.

  13. G'night Jan, sleep well and have sweet dreams, scritches to HRH in the morning and good luck with the design for the cheesecake :)

  14. ARGH, cannot believe that a 6 yr old was suspended from school for 'sexual assault' for playing tag!

  15. OMG, Deb, that beggars belief, doesn't it?

Nighty-night, MS, sweet dreams and sleep well. Scritches to Shadz.

Sorry I disappeared. My mum rang in a state because my brother had gone to a concert tonight and wasn't home yet, so I said I'd stay on the phone with her until the last train got in. Her imagination was working overtime of course, but he has just walked in the door, the concert started several hours late. I wasn't too worried as the part of town where he was is packed out with people out gallivanting on Saturday night and heavily policed but she is very fragile at the moment. So I tried to calm her down and kept an eye on the peppers, now all nicely blistered.

Posted 3 months ago by jcat #

  16. Yes she is fragile and will worry about a lot of things {{{Mum}}}. Might want to mention to your brother to call if he is going to be late, just to soothe her worries. Glad that your peppers are all nicely blackened.

  17. Deb, he doesn't have a mobile phone but I reminded my Mum she could give him my dad's one now. Whether he will remember to use it... We are not a great family for mobile phones. My dad had one but never ever remembered to turn it on. I used to have one to call the AA when the car broke down but it got too expensive, I thought, so I gave it up. They are great for emergencies but I don't use them at any other time -- can't text! -- and they cost a lot here. But yes, I could cheerfully give him a good scolding right now!

Posted 3 months ago by jcat #

  18. Lol, I gave my Dad one but he doesn't know how to use it mostly. As for me, I use it constantly to text with my kids and a few friends here, I don't use my home phone at all anymore. Our prices are finally coming down to reasonable deals now, thank goodness.

Posted 3 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  19. Do you have access to Skype? That would be a good thing to use with your Mum if you could.

Posted 3 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  20. If I had kids these days, yes, I would definitely want the kids to have one, great for keeping tabs on them! and for them to have in emergencies! Apparently my dad's brother, my uncle, who is in his 70s, texts all the time! I suppose it saves walking back over the fields to the farmhouse to use the land line... :) Plus, of course, he has lots of grandkids (big family)...

Deb, my brother still has to show my mum how to play DVDs on the DVD player and we both have to show her how to email and surf the web. She always handed her messages to friends to my dad and he had to type them out and send them for her. She does not like technology, lol...

Posted 3 months ago by jcat #

  21. My dad loved it so she left it all to him...

Posted 3 months ago by jcat #

  22. Well, I am going to go chop those peppers and then head off to bed, it's pretty late. Nighty-night, Deb, sleep well and sweet dreams when you get home and please give some fuzzy-chin scritches to the Crew.

Skype would be a great thing for my Mum to have with her friend in Canada as well -- I'll suggest it (but I think she'll just laugh...)

Posted 3 months ago by jcat #

  23. Lol, I know ppl here that hate technology too. I also have a friend that taught his Mum @ 80 yrs young how to use the computer, email and her cell phone and she got to be a whiz at it :)

Posted 3 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  24. Time for me to start shutting down the computer programs, hope that everyone has a wonderful morning!

G'night Jane, sleep well and have sweet dreams, scritches to the girls in the morning.

  25. For those of us following the PPO's family...

    Pot Plant Owl
Sat 28 Jan: In the early hours of this morning, I heard Pappa hooting on the balcony. I peeped through the curtains and saw him in the pot plant - shuffling his feet and hooting, and looking at PPO on the far side of the balcony. She caught sight of me, and flew off to the neighbour's roof, and Pappa followed.
Just before I turned away from the window, I heard the familiar hiss of the chicks. I looked at the pot plant and the first chick flew in, and landed in the pot. The second chick flew in and landed on the balcony pillar behind the pot.
For about 5 minutes, I watched as the chicks took it in turns to jump into the pot and scratch around in the soil - almost like chickens. When they had enough, the flew to one of the pillars and looked out over the wetland.
I can't tell the difference in the two chicks from appearance anymore. One is still a lot more vocal and continued to beg for food, while looking towards PPO and Pappa.
The parents flew off to roost, leaving the chicks on the balcony for a few more minutes. Eventually, they too, flew away to sleep.
I'm thrilled to have seen the entire family, and to know that they are safe and sound, and doing well.

  26. ... well, I FINALLY made it into the Cafe, to post an update to the CRAZINESS!!!!..... the Gasparilla parade began early this morning with sirens, police cars and tow trucks clearing the cars of 'those that cannot read the signs' off the streets................... all our cars were either offstreet, or a few blocks away, on 'allowed' parking areas........... and the nomads starting arriving.................. all dressed up, pirate gear and beads galore!........ the college ones were in the thick of it all, I fed them, sent them off, and are waiting for their return to feed them yet again............. now the 'nasty' part is just about to begin - the parade is just passing by our spot, and the first of a LONG line of drunks and revelers are starting to traverse back bye!............

.................... that's it for now, can hardly hear a thing with all the helicopters and noise................

Posted 3 months ago by AV #

Posted 3 months ago by KapitiKats in NZ #
