Feb 1 update on Morrey

  1. The vet did a full panel of bloodwork on Morrey and said that he has the blood test of a two year old kitty! We've been concerned about him because he is down to 8.1 pounds and seems to be favoring his back legs. The vet had thought he had hyperthyroidism but the blood work ruled that out. The vet says that sometimes something like cancer is going on that the blood work doesn't catch, so we are to monitor Morrey's weight very carefully and with any changes the vet will decide what to do! If it's cancer, my husband and I probably don't want to know as we probably wouldn't take the extreme measures necessary (financially and physically for Morrey) for treatment. Morrey seems fine and still enjoys head pets and food and water. He is also a member of our milk club (kitties in our household who don't get diarrhea from milk) and gets a couple of dishes of milk a day! I'm thinking of getting some nutri-cal and seeing if we can't put some weight back on him. That's all I know for now.

  2. I'm a pessimist when it comes to stuff like this - no news is by no means good news in my book. Did your vet run FIV and FeLV tests as well?

  3. No, Skyron, he didn't, but Morrey is current on all his shots and is fourteen years old.

  5. Then I honestly dont know what else to suggest. I hope morrey recovers and is restored to health soon.

  6. Thanks, all. We're monitoring Morrey's weight and will try putting some back on him. I sincerely hope it isn't cancer.
