Ok, it's not leftover cake, the white kitties have made a fresh sheet cake - half chocolate/half vanilla, with purple butter cream frosting. In their efforts to come up with just the right shade of purple, their pretty white coats have dribbles of red and blue food coloring!
There's lots of other noms, and the grills are hot and ready for anything and everything. Hot and cold fountains are flowing; that tabby bartender over there will make your custom adult beverage, and while you wait for it, help yourself to the pitcher of KOTSW's!

Evening Shifter, mmmmmmm cake, MMMMMMMMM KOTSW! Bliss, thanks Joan.
I haven't been on much lately. I've been enjoying a few days of summer that arrived and also been buy preserving fruit. It's the chutney, jam etc season.
I have a pot of experimental nectarine bbq sauce simmering at the moment. I hope it works out fine, whichever way we'll be eating it until it's all gone.
LOL at the earworm, I think I really prefer the original arrangement though.Posted 3 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

OOooOOO, I love purple birthday cake. And as long as the grill is ready, I'll take a CostCo hotdog.

I like the original too MS. It was the visual that made me choose this one!

Grrrrrrrrr, nectarine sauce is becoming too friendly with the bottom of the pot. I have to stand over it stirring all the time.

LOL @ purple frosted cake!!! Makes me think of when I was ten years old and went on a binge of playing with food coloring. Mom took it away from me after I put lots of green coloring in the mashed potatoes and blue in my brother's angel food with butter cream frosting birthday cake.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh dear, I lay down in front of the fan for a quick read and have just woken up. How did that happen I wonder.
BB, snow! That sounds so lovely from where I am sitting at the moment but I'm sure it has it's down side.
Marnet, LOL. Green mashed potato!
AV, good evening, roll on countdown to your own business.Posted 3 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Had to share this from a member of the feral_cat group articles/news flashes that I read...Double Yay for Best Friends & Albuquerque!!!!
Haven't been on much lately, but I have a major news flash from
Albuquerque! Another victory!I went to an amazing meeting tonight. Practically the entire feral cat
community from Albuquerque was there, as well as our Animal Welfare
policy / budget analyst, various lawyers and rescue group folks - and
the national programs coordinator and feral cat programs coordinator
from Best Friends Animal Society.Albuquerque has been chosen to receive considerable funding and
organizational support from Best Friends to move to a no-kill model for
feral cat management. We've already made enormous strides over the last
few years on our own, which is why they picked us. Five years ago, the
city was killing nearly 80% of feral cats who came into the shelters. In
2010, that number was still over 50%. However, in 2011, it was down to
36%, even though intakes were up. Adoptions also increased accordingly.
And, we've been doing around 3,500 TNRs a year. The city is now formally adopting a no-kill policy for feral cats
brought into the shelters. There will be no more anonymous drop-offs.
People who bring in trapped cats will have to provide ID and information
on where they were trapped, and officers who pick up trapped ferals will
be tracking locations closely. They will be TNR'd and put back where
they came from, like it or not. They'll be looking for "hot spots" where
there are a lot of homeless cats, and helping to organize mass trapping
efforts in those areas. We're looking at having paid, city-employee
coordinators for this, more equipment, more vet services, a transport
van, possibly a central location for recovery and treating sick cats,
etc, etc...I've been working with feral cats here for about 5 years now. In that
time, I've seen this community go from having a monthly spay / neuter
clinic that got maybe 50-60 cats in a really busy month, to receiving
city funding and providing free surgeries, which quickly increased our
numbers to well over 100 cats each month. Then we partnered with the
private shelter whose surgical facility we use, and they're taking
ferals 4 days a week, often another 50-75 or so cats every week. Now,
we're going to an all-out municipal TNR program with serious funding
(around $1 million over 3 years) and the full weight, P.R. power, and
name recognition of one of the biggest animal welfare organizations in
the country behind it...My head is spinning!

Also the latest on the Pot Plant Owls...
Pot Plant Owl
I woke up this morning to Pappa's hooting. He stood on the neighbour's roof for about half an hour hooting across the wetland. I opened the curtains and there was our dear Pot Plant Owl on the other rooftop. She conversed with Pappa, and together they woke the whole neighbourhood up. No sign of the chicks but I thought I heard a hiss or two. They may have been on our rooftop.Posted 3 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

Evening Deb, I'm back relaxing after dinner watching SGU on TV and chasing a mosquito that has been silly enough to come inside.
Great story about the orca freed from the rope. That was in my area of the east coast sort of.

LOL at Simon's Cat, had to laugh when he wouldn't come in the opened door. That is so Shadz at the moment. She didn't even come inside last night, the full moon had her out all night.Posted 3 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Evening Jan, oh how I hate mosquito(s) little annoying things that love to bite me. I thought the orca being freed was a good story too. Simon's Cat, yes that would be my house too.
Sitting here yawning away, so thinking I should head off to bed. Hope that you have a good night's sleep and sweet dreams, may the wanderer come in tonight (may not happen as the moon is still awfully bright) and rest in comfort.

Sweet dreams Deb, I'm not long out of bed myself. It's been a long hot day here and very tiring. First I have to try and lure HRH inside, I don't have high hopes on that actually happening though.

Dance Like There's No-one Watching : Attract Happiness the Natural Way [Kindle Edition]
Susanne Spencer (Author)Editorial Reviews
Product Description
This book is about how by simply being your true natural Self you will attract all the happiness you desire. The subject of the book is Bijou, a treasured pet cat, who demonstrates without effort how we might do this. But it's not only for cat lovers as the book's message is relevant to everyone and, rather than a dry 'how to' book, this is a slow seduction in awareness.
The concept of happiness is introduced as something we are more likely to experience if we aim to attract it rather than attempting to pursue it. The secret is to be who we are, in a very natural way, and the first step is learning how to be more self-aware.
Bijou's charm and appeal will evoke your curiosity and make you eager to discover more. At the same time you will enjoy her story, smile with recognition at her charming idiosyncrasies and learn so much about your Self.Posted 3 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

Evening Jcat, I have delayed my bedtime, mopping up cat yak isn't conducive to settled sleep.
I see there has been a 3.9 quake on the Kapiti Coast a short time ago.

Uuuurrrrgh, MS, I do not envy you the yakkage.
Nighty-night, Deb, sleep well and sweet dreams. I hope the Crew let you sleep and take that darned phone off the hook.
Here comes Miss Millie to see why I have not been answering her plaintive calls -- well, I have but she wants to know why I haven't hopped to her couchside...
