  1. If any of you remember I have been trying to catch a young tuxie feral/stray for the past 2 months. I have been going outside in the freezing weather everyday when Tucker came to eat. Sitting on the cold concrete near the food to talk while Tucker ate. On Friday I was finally able to pick her up, and after an entire day of trying, got her in the carrier. She had bleeding feet and I could tell from her actions that she was in heat. Anyway, took her to the vet Friday night for testing, checkup and treatment for her poor feet. She was FeLV positive. The sweetest little girl, so good through the entire process of checkup and blood work. I had to make the decision to send her to Jerry at the Rainbow Bridge. I stayed with her and held her and told her all about the flowers and butterflies. For the first time in her life she knew what love was. She was so adorable, with the most wonderful big round eyes and I feel so sad that I couldn't make her part of my furmily. I keep thinking about her little face, and how she talked to me while waiting for her breakfast and dinner.

  3. Oh, I'm so sorry Elene! Tuxies are my favorite. You did the right thing--she would have been sick and died alone in the freezing cold, possibly after having a litter of sick kittens, but instead she was held and loved and got to go peacefully, warm and fed. Thank God that you came along for her.

  7. You gave Tucker the only love she knew in her entire life. Every contact with you was a gift of love. The greatest gift was releasing her from what would very likely have been a horrible lonely death. Bless you for having the strength to do this for her!

  11. Oh Elene, that is sad, I have had the same experience a few times. I try to save all that I can, but the sad truth is that we can't save them all. Like you, I am glad that they got to know just a bit of love and comfort before they left for the bridge.
