At the moment mine are on my poopy list! This was the first day I didn't close one off. They knocked over a vase of flowers, with water of course, that was on the entertainment center. Of course over the TV.. Now my TV doesn't work... *sigh* Hopefully it will dry out and be OK

Argh!!! 2P, I'm sorry I didn't stay long enough to help you cat-proof your home!

Oh, no, 2P. All Bob and Mi did last night was knock over a full garbage can! That was nasty enough, but didn't kill the TV!
Bobsky is at home watching his new aquarium movie right now.
I still don't dare leave the two of them together when I'm not there - Bob's been pretty cranky the last few days. -
Cat lover's the world over would immediately respond to the article with, "Well! DUH!!!"
No news to any of us.

The vase is/was a temporary thing. Must have been one of the flowers in it, because I moved to a lower table, not near anything electronic! and Mili knocked it over again. I think the TV will be OK.. manfriend came over and moved the TV - too big/heavy/awkward for me to do - off the entertainment center. I mopped up more water, and the TV is set an an angle for any more possible water to drain and dry. I think it's the speakers/speaker wires just being wet - made the sound weird.
Now .. as for the Chloe and Mili show ! I sat on the couch in silence last night.. just to chill. Mili came out and then I saw Chloe. This will be the short version as this went on for 45 minutes.
They were on opposite ends of the area rug. Mili just sat - meatloaf style and looked at me then Chloe - back and forth. Chloe sat, tail wrapped around feet and growled. After a while, Mili got up, stretched, yawned and walked over to me and climbed in my lap. She was up and down and purring like crazy. Chloe continued to be saucer-eyed and growled most of the time.
Mili got down and when Chloe stopped growling, she got pets. Growls started, I stopped.
Then I was playing with Mili with the Cat Dancer - you're right ann, she loves it ! -- and Chloe sat a distance and watched. I moved the dancer so it would be between the two of them and Chloe started to play a little too. She looked like the new kid at school not knowing if she should join in or not.
I decided it was time for bed, so I called Chloe upstairs and she gave me kitty kisses and laid down next to me - after playing for a while with her poof ball - and all was well. This morning... Mili came out shortly after I got downstairs and was talking up a storm! When I left, Chloe was guarding the love seat.. waiting for another sighting of the Mili.
So.... I think we're going to be OK. Mili hissed only once. And Chloe is pretty much saucer eyes and growls. Oh... and Chloe does get extra heeping helpings of love... when she is not 'puffed' or growling.
Thanks all of you... I know this is a long post. No one else I can share this with .. :)

I'm so glad to hear that the entire situation is improving! I'm absolutely certain that Chloe will respond to your positive attention (when she's not growling or puffed). And I'm thrilled to hear how well Mili has warmed up to you!
I'm equally excited to hear that Chloe joined in with playing with the Cat Dancer! Do you know anything about Chloe's life, prior to you adopting her? She sounds a bit like a friend's cat, Morgan, who had to be bottle-fed from one week old.
When another cat was introduced, Morgan *literally* did not know how to play! She saw the other cat as a threat, and a threat only. She didn't know anything about playing with toys, wrestling, playing chase or hide, or bluffing. I can only surmise that since she did not have a mother or littermates from such a young age, that she missed out on a lot of the normal cat interactions, communication, and bonding that takes place prior to 12 weeks of age.
(It took Morgan quite a while to learn how to play with Oddney, the new cat, but she eventually learned. And they grew to be comfortably companionable with one another.)

I don't know anything about Chloe's first 2 years of life. I got her from the shelter here, and was told 'she was a stray'.... she was spayed just before I got her.
When I do go to pet Chloe, when not growling, she doesn't respond. It's like she doesn't know what to do. Again, the little kid who was just reprimanded and now "I don't like you any more, I'm not going to respond to anything you say or do, no matter how nice." Until she was upstairs... then she was OK.
So maybe that's what is going on with Chloe.. she doesn't know how to play. That explains all the unused toys - which Mili is now finding and bringing to the living room; I find them all over in the morning. The only toy Chloe really plays with is the soft yarn balls. She tosses those and shreads them.
This may well end up being a really great thing for Chloe ! Oh, and Mili is no longer going up on the fridge. Something about sticky stuff all over up there ! LOL

One thing I have found 2 Popoki is I cannot keep a vase of flowers in my place anymore. Mia likes to knock over anything with water in it. I found this out after she knocked over a full glass of water and killed my keyboard and mouse. I had to go replace them.
Last night I bought the sticky paws and so far it is detering Mia off of the book case. Yay!

That was the first vase with water since Mili arrived. IF I do that again, it will be in a safer place. The jury is still out on the TV
I have sticky paws all over my kitchen counter - three strips in one area - and all over the top of the fridge. Hopefully I'll be able to remove them soon. I forget they are there and put things down... like paper plates, the plastic bag my deli meats are in. It not only deters Mili, but keeps me on my toes as well !

BTW, 2P, glad things are working out better with the girls and your tv is going to be ok... I think my husband would die if his precious tv got damaged... He's always convinced the cats have some secret ploy to scratch it up (even though they can't really get on it) while we're gone. He's constantly bent over examining the screen from different angles looking for scratches.

2Pop...I love your ongoing reports about the girls...Dear sweet Chloe won't give in easily but she sounds like there's some progress there. I think you're handling them both very well. Oh and don't give up on the tv..I had a darlin' once dump over a can of soda on a vcr and believe it or not after much cleaning inside, and running a head cleaner 6,000 times it actually worked again...lol...headbonks and scritches to your little girls!

Thanks Karenopa. TV is currently on the floor, tipped to allow any further drainage of water. I remain ever hopeful! Worst case, I'll have to buy a new one... which would then be digital and I'll be ready for 2009 without having to buy a converter box. Frankly... I hope this one survives... I'd rather buy a video camera LOL

Yeah!! Then we could see 'Now Playing..Chloe & Mili' flicks!
I like that idea alot 2Pop..Oh and Pouncer..I wasn't able to pull up the page on the health article but thank you anyway...My kitties give me hundreds of reason to wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed each and everyday! (well..bushy-tailed maybe..the bright-eyed needs a little coffee)
