  1. A friend just sent this to me...sums up our winter here!

    The new Iowa state song
    --------------
    It's winter in Iowa
    And the gentle breezes blow
    Seventy miles an hour
    At twenty-five below.
    Oh, how I love Iowa
    When the snow's up to your butt;
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around,
    I could never leave Iowa
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground!

  2. I thought it might be either "Baby, It's Cold Outside" or "The Weather is Here, I Wish You Were Beautiful"

  3. That is hysterical! Tell you what. Fly down to Ga, grab me, we'll head to Tampa and invade Dee's. Sand, surf, and salt air.

  4. CW's house is empty now...

  5. It is 82 degrees at noon (28 celcius). But, we are supposed to have bad thunderstorms tonight. And Wed and Thurs it will only reach into the mid 60s. That is cold for Florida!

  6. How funny, CatRancher. I'll have to send that to my mom.

  7. Alright, Dee, smarty. I remember as a kid in Miami just waiting for 60 degrees so we didn't have to dress out for gym. So, what about the Keys? We could visit the Hemingway house.

  8. It's supposed to snow again on Thursday, but they're not saying how much... This weekend it is SUPPOSED to be 44 degrees...people here will be walking around in shorts (I'm serious!) with weather like that.

Ah, Dee, 82 degrees ABOVE zero... *sigh*... I'll take your cool 60 degree weather, too...

Sharon -- I'm packing my bags. Direct flight to Atlanta from here and then on to Tampa. Ready, Dee? Put the soup on and stock up on some of that delicious Cuban bread you were talking about the other day!

Ginny -- how about "The weather outside is Frightful...but I-O-WAY is delightful" NOT.

  9. I think I am going to go home this evening and put "The Music Man" on to watch!

"So what the heck? You're welcome!
    Join us at the picnic!
    You can have your fill
Of all the food you bring yourself!
You really ought to give Iowa a try!
    (Provided you're not con-trar-r-r-r-ry!)"

    Gotta love Meredith Willson!!!!

  13. I know that you have eaten Cuban bread, Ginny! Is it hard to find in Texas?

  14. A few specialty sandwich shops make a Cuban, and you can do passably in a panaderia, but it just isn't the same if you can't hear the trolley in the background!
