  1. Well, my husband just let Penny run outside in the rain in the middle of a tornado watch! He said he was checking to see if some packages had been delivered, but I've seen him before just standing at the door, holding it open, even though he knows that's when she bolts. He called to tell me about this, and even asked if I could leave work to come look for her! Of course, he's not about to go out after her. He's leaving a window open in which there's a hole in the screen. I'm so disgusted I took off the picture on Catster in which he was holding Buttercup.

  2. Oh dear...{{{hugs}}}} Eileen...I pray Penny returns soon...and tell hubby he can try to fit through the hole in the screen if he wants in for dinner..(kidding...kindof)...

  3. 2bp, it's HIS job to cook dinner, which he rarely does any more. I think I need to take this up in further detail on a Purrs thread.

  4. She's home! She's "kind of wet", but I've been assured that "she can dry off by herself." Pffftttt!!!

  5. Oh, thank God that she's home! How frustrating this must be for you.

  6. Thank God she is home. He should dry her off. Thinking unfluffy thoughts at your husband at the moment.

  7. I echo SMM. Thinking very unfluffy thoughts about your husband.

  8. Unfluffy thoughts??? UNDERSTATEMENT!! Thank God she's home but boy I wish a**holes like that would wise up! What part of "Don't let my baby out" don't they understand?? Doesn't he realize that Penny is no different than any other child to you? The prayers I send up are for him to wise up and for you in drawing the strength you need in dealing with stupidity! now I must shake off unfluffy thoughts................................OK, I'm better now.

  10. Deb...I'm right there with you..I think the one thing I say more than anything at home is close the door..and don't let the kitties out...argh...

  11. glad your girl is home. I recall when my mother stayed with me (kicked her out after a week) she kept letting my cats out. Her only response was they'll come home..........gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  12. Thanks, all. I think I am going to take this up in more detail on a Purrs thread after work.

  13. I always told my boyfriend that I would get rid of him before I would get rid of my cats. THat let him know up front where he stood in the "pecking" order. :D He now loves those cats as much if not more than I do. (talk about reforming a cat indifferent)

  14. Eileen, so glad Penny has more sense than some other unnamed person. Happy that you didn't have to spend the entire day in worrying about Penny. Happenings like this make be very happy that I don't share my home with anyone. When my son was home, he was just as careful as I am, and none of the cats ever got out the door.

  15. Way to go Angel!! I've had similar conversations with people in general. My child and my furrbabies come before even me and I like it that way!

  16. YEah at first he thought I was crazy. but one night when one of my babies was sick (nothing serious) he was being a butthead and I locked him out of the house. Told him he couldn't come back if he didn't understand my affection for my cats. He believed me after that. Came in wet and apologetic. heehee. Like I said, now he thinks of those cats as our "kids" :D

  17. It's truly about priorities..The innocent come first always. I'm so happy Penny returned relatively unscathed..A Tornado watch..Argh!!! The implications here for disaster are unmentionable. I hope hubby has learned from this..but from my own experience it takes disaster for some things to sink into a man's head.

  18. Eileen, glad Penny is home safe and sound. When you get home, put hubby out in the rain. Hope the tornado doesn't materialize for you. Stay safe.

  19. Eileen, I read your first post and I started praying right away that Penny would be okay. I was so happy to see your response that Penny was okay. Thank goodness. Stay safe and give Penny extra love tonight with a couple of headbonks from me.

  23. I agree with Lynn. Put hubby out in the rain for the night and see how it feels. If he has half a brain, he might understand what it is like to be wet, cold, hungry and a little concerned.

My cats come first in my household. My husband didn't like that but I told him they were like my children. I am so glad I am in my own place with just the cats and myself. No one else to let them out.

I tease my Dad about how my cats are his grandkids. Hey he was the first to tease us by saying my parent's dog, Mora was our sister! ;-) My Dad loved that dog like a child. She was a Belgium Sheepdog. Picture a black fox with a white star on its chest. That was Mora. She has been gone about 14 years now.

  25. I'm so glad Penny is home! Several years ago, Jiggs was out and a thunderstorm blew in quickly. I was so worried - he hated storms! I like a good thunderstorm knowing Jiggs is safe under the bed. He came back several hours after the storm, looking really scared. Another time, a huge snowstorm was coming and I was bringing wood in for the woodburner. Shaddo got out on my last trip out for wood just as it was starting to snow. It was coming down hard, and I was frantic, knowing I couldn't hunker down and enjoy a good snowstorm unless my boys were home and safe inside. After what seemed like an eternity, he showed up. My boys are clearly my top priority!
