Execessive Grooming Services

  1. Check out the pictures of these poor cats. I think the grooming services on this site are a bit excessive and the cats do not look happy. What do you think?

  2. You are right, they don't look happy, but I think most cats don't like grooming. I will say, that I have had elderly kitties who did need a lion shave because they were too old to groom themselves and were covered in mats. We were told that when the mats get really tight, they pinch the skin. My semi-feral who I cannot brush needs to have his back shaved also because of the mat problem.

  4. Cato grooms himself excessively and I thought that's what this thread was about. No, I don't think these cats look happy. Perhaps grooming services like this are for long haired cats that mat easily? I have managed to get Cato to stop grooming with a little obsessive-compulsive disorder medication. So far the experiment is working, although he did scratch himself this morning once -- could be a bad sign. You don't know how happy I am that his belly hair has grown back! I could go on about this, but I won't bore you :) Elizabeth
