  1. I can't write it all again. But I need to share this with you. Thank you so much for your prayers and warm wishes. I assure you that I feel them.

  2. My arms are around you in a gentle virtual hug. You are a wonderful, caring granddaughter to your ill Granddad. He is lucky to have you and your other family members with him to support him through this time. He sounds like he clearly understands the possible outcomes and is facing this with courage and humor. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  4. MM.... my heart is with you as you go through this. It's hard. I know. I know you have been following my posts about my dad, too. So much of what I read in your blog about your GrandDad also applies to my Dad. NG tube, hard of hearing and no teeth - so hard to understand. And the sense of humor. Yeah, Dad still has that too.

    Prayers, healing and strength energy to you and yours. {{HUGS}}

  9. OP, what is the latest with your dad anyway? Been thinking a lot about you too.

Thanks guys. I'm reading this at work. Really bad idea.

My brother is there at the hospital right now. I'm hoping he's a positive force. He's been known on most occasions not to be.

  10. MM - I'll start a new thread on my Dad, rather than go into it all here. I'd rather this stay all for you and yours. I'll call it Dad's 2nd surgery.

  11. I'm sending my deepest prayers Special-D to you/your GrandDad and family,Jennifer! Air-Mail from the Great Northwest! He sounds like a great man who has the loving support of an affectionate and close-knit clan. That's exactly what he needs to see and you're all doing that for him.I worked for 18 months as a C.N.A at a nursing home in Wash. and all too often that's exactly what I DIDN'T observe with the majority of residents. So sad. I know long-term-care facilities are average at best in terms of quality-of-life issues and so turn many families off to them or away from them. But if more families (like yours) saw to it to be there for their parents/grandparents and demand a little more accountability from staff/nurses,it would work both ways toward the Greater Good of everyone involved.(T.P slow typer!T.P.winded!)

  12. Lots of hugs and prayers for one Jennifer from another. Your Grandad sounds such a stong character, and the doctor sounds fantastic. Both these facts will help with whatever happens over the next few days. Thinking of you xx

  13. MM - No one knows what will happen tomorrow, I pray for God's will to be done, but I am thanking God for sending your Granddad and the family a wonderful caring doctor. Just knowing the doctor is in touch with all the feelings and emotions is a miracle. We are all here for you. Sending you the white light for courage, strength and health.

  14. They did the swallow test and he can't. Not water or pudding. We are trying to make arrangements for hospice care.

  15. My grandma is talking with my mother, aunt, and the doctor. They are trying to decide whether or not they will do the back surgery. Since he has already refused the feeding tube, fixing his back wouldn't really give him any more time or improve the short time he has left.

  16. Oh MM, hugs and purrs to you and your family. May he go peacefully if God decides it is his time.

  17. MM.. you are still in my thoughts and prayers. How old is your GrandDad?
If it will help you, tell us more about him... I remember you recounting lots of memories about him earlier.

  22. Thank you all. I went to the hospital last night. He was in a great mood. I did find out that they are going to do another swallow test today. This time under an X-ray so that they can hopefully see what the problem is. Hopefully there is something they can do. When we walked into his room, he asked my husband how he was doing. MeezerRoboto answered with "Pretty good." To which GrandDad responded, "You might be good but you're sure not pretty." Ha! I asked him if he was being ornery with his nurses and he just grinned.

  27. I saw that. Thank you Terri. Those comments hit my blackberry so I see them right away. I really appreciate it.

  28. MeezerMama, I hope that as long as your granddad is willing to fight, that the doctors will be able to help him recover. It's several nasty things to fight all at once, but I suspect he's well-equipped with a strong will to live - at least as long as he's able to give the nurses hell.

Hang in there! I hope the biopsy's successful and leads to a definitive diagnosis.

  29. MeezerMama , I also left a note on your blog. Your grandfather sounds like such a great guy - a real character. It is so great that he still has his sense of humor. Sending prayers, hugs and healing energy!
