Prayers requested for Granddad and family

MeezerRoboto is taking excellent care of me. I'm very lucky to have such a great support system. It's been hard to write about Granddad, what he's going through and how that affects me, but it's also very therapeutic and I would recommend it. There is something liberating about sharing private feelings with the world. Scary though.

Thanks tigerpaw. It wasn't the direction I intended when I started the blog, but it's been a good outlet. We'll just have to see where it goes from here.

Can't agree with you more. I'm glad that you are sharing; I, for one, am feeling your pain right along with you.
I have to admit a very selfish thought here... I am so very envious of your support system. I very often feel I am going through all this with my Dad on my own - with the exception of my Mom. And I need to support her; not the other way around. OK.. end of self-pity-party. Time to buck up again.

Well I have to admit that I feel almost guilty having such a great support system. When I know not everyone (read as you specifically) don't have it. I hope to offer you some from so far away though. You really aren't alone, but my arms aren't long enough to reach you in Arizona.

I went to visit last night. He has been having trouble keeping food and medication down. They finally got him some pain relief so he was sleeping very soundly last night. I didn't wake him. The doctor says his kidneys are shutting down.
I dreamed about him last night. We were having a big family dinner and everyone was there. He was happily going from table to table. Nana (my grandmother) kept trying to get him to sit down, but he wanted to visit with everyone that he hadn't seen in so long. Many of the people there have already passed away. She was sitting next to his empty chair at the table with all of the living family. He kept telling her that it was okay.
I don't think it's hard to figure out what that was about.Posted 4 years ago by MeezerMama in OK; 10/23 #

Wow, now that is an amazing dream MeezerMama! My prayers for you and One Popoki and also lots of hugs. No worries on the piting part, One Popoki. Please go ahead and share with us if it helps lessen your stress. I have received such wonderful support from everyone and without them, I would be a complete mess. Huge group hug.

It was a wonderful dream. I feel it's prophetic and so sharing it with my conscious self made me cry, but it was cleansing tears. He's going to be okay and so are we.
I took advantage of the massage service offered in my office on my lunch break today. I highly recommend it.

I'm so glad you found comfort in your dream, and as for the luxury of a massage service at work - words fail me!!! xx

we are quite spoiled. We do have to pay for the massage. $1 per minute. But we do get free soda, cappuccino, and there is an on site gym. Its a good place to work

MM: Just wanted to share thoughts and prayers for you and your family. I went through something similar when my dad passed. He had lung cancer. Say everything you always wanted to say to Granddad... and encourage the rest of the family to do so as well. You have a chance that not all are given....
Hugs, purrrrrs, headbonks and prayers from me and Knucklehead.....Posted 4 years ago by HarleyVixen #

Thanks HarleyVixen. We have been. As much as we can. He's so tired right now. I told him about my dream when I went to see him last night. Described all the food and the people there. It made him smile.

At the risk of sounding crazy, there were a lot of people in Granddad's room that I couldn't see. I could feel them though. You know that feeling you get when someone walks up right behind you? Granddad could see them too. He talked to them. It made Granddad happy every time MeezerRoboto or I would turn because it felt like someone had come in. Like he appreciated the confirmation of what he was seeing. The idea of hallucinations is very distressing to him so he likes it when other people see the things that he does. My cousin's 2 year old son wouldn't come into the room because there were too many people in there. I got the overwhelming feeling that several people in the room had been at the dinner in my dream.
My aunt feels them too. We've used this hospice 3 times in the last 3 years, so we have a good relationship with them. The hospice people see this all the time.Posted 4 years ago by MeezerMama in OK; 10/23 #

Not crazy to me. Shortly before one of my uncles passed, my cousin said he called out with this big grin on his face, "John! (my dad) Laudie! (another uncle)" When my cousin asked why he said their names, he said that they had just come in the room. Several minutes later, he died. My dad had passed two years earlier and my uncle Laudie 3 years.
