Lost kitty flyer...

(10 posts)
  1. Hi all,

    I just don't know what to do and I feel so guilty. There is a cat that has been frequenting our backyard and has been friendly so far. He comes to eat food that I occasionally put out and sit with my two cats. I think he may be a cat that was on a posted flyer as lost. I looked at the flyer a few times: once when it was first posted (before this cat started hanging out), once about a week ago and I was mistaken, I thought the kitty had only half a black mustache on his white face and the poster, I think had a full mustache, so I disregarded it. Then I got a much closer look at the kitty in the backyard and I saw that he had a full mustache, so I ran across the street to the flyer to check again, and it was taken down. :(

    What if it was the kitty in the flyer? I already fell awful. This kitty seems to be plump enough that he is not wanting for food, but if he is the lost one and has just been circling the neighborhood...

    Any advise would be appreciated. ~lara

  2. Try to put up a flyer saying "found Kitty". Can't hurt

  3. Don't feel guilty. It was an honest mistake. I agree with Tiger's mama, try putting up a found kitty poster

  4. I agree with MM & Tiger's Mama,Lara;
    Do that, AND also try calling or stopping by your local shelter or Humane Soc. to see if tis lil' fuzzbutt's parents have left any contact info. Good luck!

  5. Hey TP, did you spend any more time looking at the kittenwars?

  6. One more thing: REquire the person who claims the cat to provide proof it is theirs. Unscrupulous people claim lost cats and sell them to research centers. Same with "Free cat" ads. The family should have a picture of him to show you.

  7. Agreed, make a poster. If they call, make sure they describe the cat to you so you know you have the correct owners. Put FOUND! in big red letters so it catches their attention. You might also want to call the local animal shelter or humane society since the owners might be calling in to those places to check. Also, our local paper lets you put "Found" ads in for free. Good luck!

  8. I agree--put up a 'FOUND' poster and make sure that you DO NOT PUT A PICTURE ON THE POSTER. Make the 'owners' describe the kitty in detail to make sure that it is their cat. Good luck!
