I'm so sorry Lynnmo,you have taken wonderful care of him for him to survive this long w/ FIV.Sadly we outlive our pets and this always hurts so much but Cane will be free of pain soon.
Please consider going to the rainbow Bridge site and visiting or writing a tribute to Cane. We will be here for you.

Lynnmo, one of our members, MadcatwomanintheUK, wrote a lovely poem for pets whose time has come to leave. It's called "Night Night, Furball":
Night night furball
Close your eyes
Dream of chasing butterflies
Basking in the sunshine
Jumping up trees
Exciting smells in a gentle breezeSleep tight furball

Lynnmo, You and Cane have my prayers and sympathy. I am sitting here in tears after reading that poem and I know the pain, the hurt you are going through. I had to do the same a few years ago and it still hurts. You are not alone and remember Cane was loved and he loved in return. {hugs}

Lynnnmo, my heart goes out to you.
I know Cane had a long and happy life, especially for a cat with FIV. I'm sure your love and care had a lot to do with that. Remember that cats do not anticipate death, the way that humans do, and therefore they do not fear it. His suffering will end soon, because you're strong enough to do the hardest thing that loving, responsible pet owners face.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope that your loving memories of Cane will soon outweigh the grief and heartache you're feeling now.

Lynnmo, I'm so sorry. Peace to Cane at The Rainbow Bridge. Peace to you. I read the thread the other day and have been worried about Cane and you. I'm probably not much help as I'm still having trouble dealing with losing Jiggs 3 months ago yesterday. However, I can tell you that when I see his picture, I smile and 16 years of good thoughts come flooding back. I still feel angry, guilty, sad and hurt, but I feel good ten times over when I look at his picture.

Joan, I think of you often. Especially when I see pictures of Jiggs. Two Saturdays ago was 3 months since I lost Sebastian, and somehow I can't think of him without thinking of Jiggs too. I'll bet they're some characters over at the bridge. ((hugs))

Lynnmo, please remember that Cane doens't want you to cry. He won't understand that. Please hold him tight and smile for him. His pain is over and a new adventure is just beginning. He will always be with you till you meet again.
All of us here know the pain of the loss you are facing. Can you feel all of the love and hugs coming your way? I hope so.

Lynnmo, Cane and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Cane enjoy life over the Bridge and tell Kinker 'hey' for me and that I miss him but will see him again....Chester/Jerry is waiting for you to show you the ropes and for good head scritching. There are lots of those who have crossed before you, they will guide you to the fun places, where butterflies don't mind being chased, running brooks are available to look into and see the fishies swim lazily by, and oh so many other things. Lynnmo, take you time to grieve and miss Cane, it takes everyone different times, so please don't let anyone tell you that its not normal to cry when you feel the need to. Huggs and headbonks from me and my crew!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Cane today. You've held him dear for 16 years. I know it's hard to let him go, but you know he'll be at Rainbow Bridge waiting for you when it's time for you...
It takes time--sometimes lots of time--to adjust to the "absence" of a dear pet. Just take it easy and give yourself credit for every step you make through the grieving process. I'm certain that your friends at TDK will be here to help you with anything you need. God bless you, my dear, and please take good care of yourself. -
