everyone has thier names like dee from tampa,but why can't I ?all I get is not valid email address and the username says not able to edit.

Sorry Don't know why. Have you gone in and tried to change user id in your profile?

At the very top under "The Daily Kitten" there is a line that says 'view your profile'. Click on it and it will take you to your profile.
Once there, over on the top right is a box that says 'edit'. Click on that and you will be taken to a screen that has yoru email, website, hobbies, ect. on it, but above those fields is a link that says 'edit this and other details by clicking here'
Click on that and now you are inside your profile and under "Nickname" you can put whatever screen name you like and then where it says "display name publicly as" you can choose the nickname you put in.
