  1. I know exactly how you feel. I had to have my beautiful black cat Rocket put to sleep last month. I cried my heart out, just tore me up. Was the worst moment of my life, but would not had been anywhere else but there to comfort him in his last moment of life. I wish I could say everything will be ok but I know that I still cry everyday missing my beloved Rocky. But life does go on as hard as it may be. I just look forward to the day we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge. Take some comfort in knowing my Rocky Will be there to help guide your Bob.

  2. Lisa,Jerry was a long time poster on TDK under the name Chester(his kitty). I don't know if I can do him justice but he was always a concerned, compassionate poster rarely talking about problems of his own when he was actually very, very ill. He was always concerned about others and would inquire about them and their furr family even up to the day before he died at a way too young age from cancer. He touched us all.
I'm sure I didn't do him justice if someone else would please comment.

  3. Buttercup...You did Chester purrfect. He was a wonderful addition to TDK & will be sorely missed.

  4. Lisa, I am so sorry for your loss. Bob sounds like a wonderful kitty. I know there are plenty to greet him at the Rainbow Bridge, and I pray that you will find comfort in your memories of him.

  5. And we had set up a memorial fund in Jerry's/Chester's name, when his sister informed us of his passing, at the animal shelter near his home. A room in his honor was made for the cats up for adoption. Whenever one of us loses a cat we send them up to Jerry cause we know he will take care of them until we get there--he was a remarkable human being and is greatly missed.

  6. Speaking of meeting at the Bridge...my dad died from Hodgkins when he was only 49--30 years ago in July. My aunt had a dream that my maternal grandmother was waiting for him and said, "Why, Mac, what are you doing here already!?"

I hope Jerry/Chester will take good care of my big boy...and make sure my dad knows he's mine. I have three love monsters in heaven, and one of them, my childhood cat, was a big black male like Bob.

People like Jerry are rare and splendid. I'm sorry I didn't know him, but wow...has he lived on in your memories. You people are priceless. I know you were a tremendous comfort to Jerry's family.

Thank you again for welcoming us to your family...Lisa, Misty and CJ.

The kittens are great. All six are thriving!

  7. Great news about the kittens, Lisa!
We were able to reach Jerry's mom after we found out about his death. (A female friend of his let us know by posting the information on TDK.) Many of us left comments on his memorial page at the local newspaper in his town. I think it really comforted her to know how many people from all over the world cared about him.

  8. Bob is on Catster!

Not the best pics I have of him, but they're all I have digitized. I'm still in the stone ages photo-wise. I also added the story of how he came to me. I'll add Misty and CJ on the same page if the site will let me. L/L (which is love/lisa, a signoff reserved for the people I purrrr about ).

  9. I'm starting to look at everyone's kitties. Athena, Rocket was splendid, and no doubt has much fun as he was beautiful. My heart goes out to you.

May I suggest you edit your profile to point to the Catster page for Bob? Your website entry points to a search engine at this time.

  14. Yayyy! You did it Lisa! Bob is such a beauty. I love black kitties. Their eyes speak volumns from the intense solid background. He seems like he was a real sweetie. 18. Thank you for the compliments and the invitations. Bobby had an "old soul" face from the time I found him. I adore black cats. I'm so sorry I'm behind on response, but I'm so depressed, I'm almost paralyzed. I know ya'll know what I'm talking about. It's all I can do to take good care of Misty, CJ, "Momma" and the babies.

The babies are all happy, healthy and rambunctious enough to go to new homes. My vet is taking two calicoes next week and the emergency vet who saw Bob the night he was attacked took one today. So all three calicoes have homes! Momma cat is getting to be more affectionate all the time, although she still lashes out with her deadly claws if I try to pet anything but her big, bushy tail.

Misty realized today that Bob has been gone too long. She's going from room to room calling him--very strange since normally she only chirps. (CJ doesn't vocalize at all, only trills very, very occasionally.) Misty is breaking my heart.

  19. Bob is very beautiful, love the black ones myself. You might try sitting down with Misty and talking to her about Bob crossing the bridge and how pain free he is and happy. I did that with mine when my Rottweiler Zeus crossed over, just sat with them and talked about what had happened, don't know how much they really listened too but they stopped looking for him shortly afterwards. I was lucky in one way when my Kinker passed in Jan 2006 while I was at work, the others in the house knew it and never did look for him because they knew he had passed over. Personally it still causes that small ache in my heart because I wasn't there with him to comfort and hold him while he was crossing over.

  20. AZDEB...I think sometimes our furry friends leave us when we're not there because they know it will hurt & they don't want to do that. I do know what your feeling. Having gone thru it when Cowboy passed just minutes before I showed up at the vets. She assured me that one of the gals there sat with him so he wasn't alone. So it gave me some comfort that he didn't go alone. {{{HUGS}}}

  21. Buttercup, I must have joined after Jerry/Chester passed. How long ago was this?? What a great story you told.

Posted 4 years ago by SammyandOliversmama #

  22. Hi SOM,I think Jerry passed about a year ago.

Posted 4 years ago by Buttercup #

  23. Hi Buttercup!! Thanks for the answer.. have a great day.

  24. Bob was a very handsome boy and he was very brave to stand up for those little kittens. I'm very sorry for your loss... I lost two of my beloved cats Amanda and Whyley (on catster) on the same day. I wish I would have joined these chats back then, because I didn't have a lot of support to help me get over my grief.

Posted 4 years ago by dieselsmom #

  25. That's one of the best things about TDK, DM. The empathy and support is so strong when one of us has to let a furry family member go. I'm glad you found TDK!
I'm so sorry that you lost Amanda and Whyley on the same day. I have an image of them crossing the bridge together and joyfully discovering all the wonders on the other side. :)

Posted 4 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  26. Thanks KW. The image of them crossing together is the one thing that I still hold on to. I had the vet bring in another vet from the clinic to have them both put down at the same time instead of one after the other.

Posted 4 years ago by dieselsmom #

  27. What a blessing, DM. I admire your courage!

Posted 4 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  28. I think it probably would have been harder to sit through two rounds versus just being there for one, and having both kitties at peace.
I already have this new image in my mind of my cats playing with all the cats of members here, that have crossed over as well.
I already feel a very strong connection forming with everyone in these chats. So thank you everyone for making this such a special group!!

  29. Welcome dieselsmom!!

Posted 4 years ago by SammyandOliversmama #

  30. Wow..dieselsmom..That story pulls some heavy heartstrings for me. I've seen all your babies on Catster and they're the sweetest group of kits! We all have kitties over the Bridge and I agree to have them put over at the same time is a beautiful gesture for them and for yourself. {{{hugs}}}
