If you're not able to get a dab of peroxide onto it, simply watch to make sure it appears to be healing properly and doesn't get infected. As long as Karma does a good job of keeping it clean, you probably won't have any problem at all.

She may need just some time to fully break herself in. My little girl wouldn't let me pick her up, sometimes she still does that thing where she sit's completely still but once you go to pick her up and then full speed ahead she's off like a torpedo.
Some cats just aren't ones to be held as much as others. I would say hold her when she is comfortable being held, at least get her use to being held, it will build upon trust I think too. So once you let her start to establish that she may come around easier and more prone to maybe come to you to be held.
Cats are very independant creatures. They do what they want when they want and no other way about it.

My hubby says that the Bog does what he's going to do and there's no doing anything about it!

Karma is absolutely beautiful. She will, as the others have said, make her own mind up about when she wants to be petted and whether or not she wants to sit on your lap. However, if you are patient, she will spend more nad more time close to you. Often, very fluffy cats get too hot when they sit on laps, so they prefer to sit near rather than on their "pets". (You have of course realised by now that you are her pet, and not the other way round - after all who is in control of this relationship?!)
