WOW!!!! What a welcome!!! I don't think loneliness is ever an issue here. I deeply appreciate all the greetings!
Several people asked for me to tell a little about myself, pets, family, etc....
We've had all sorts of pets here.... dogs (Pomeranian, Lahsa Apso, Shepherd/Chow, and others. Birds, Had about 7 or eight in my time.... and raised one of the most gorgeous of all Cockatiels. And we've even had a Moluccan Cockatoo named George.
Other critters was a Nine Foot Burmese Python (Goliath). I wrote a piece about him at http://e-pops.org/aeamt/705.html. Also, we've had an Iguana, fish, hissing cockroaches, Mexican Tarantula, several Ozark Wood Tarantulas which were eventually released, and nameless visitors like possums and skunks. (and we live IN town)
Right now the pets are a Bearded Dragon my boy has, and seven cats (some pics at http://e-pops.org/knk/
The cats are one Maine Coon named Raggie because she's always snoozing in the laundry basket. She and her siblings were born feral and we rescued them at about 14-15 days of age. Two polydactyl Siamese, Wooli and Weasel, whom we'd gotten at about 6 weeks. Wooli is normal colors, but Weasel was cantankerous with an apparent latent gene, and he looks black. But if you see him in the sun, he's deep dark brown and has the black face, feet, and tail.
Then there's three Maine Coon/scrounge mixes, Homer, Hariett, and KD, who all feral born.
Then comes the last of our adventures. She is a little Manx who was born last April 1st. I should have taken that as a warning. She is so orn'ry, and wants to prove she's the top cat. Wooli and Weasel have always held that position because Raggie let them, I think. Her room is my den.... but when she goes out with me, she looks for Wooli and Weasel and pounces on them.... Poor things.
But I love her. She follows me around the house, lays on my lap as I'm on the computer, and is so cute. Oh, what do we call her? Everything from Baby, to Runt, to Stubbi... because of her tail.
And she doesn't even have a stub. There's NOTHING!!! but her... uhmmm.... well, she's completely tailless....
I live in a small community next to Gassville where the tornado went through. I've written a thing about our family's ordeal in that storm (http://e-pops.org/aeamt/GT/607.html). My daughter was almost dead center in the turmoil and we could have easily lost her and the three girls.
Oh yes, I'm not that old, but I do have four children and 15 grandchildren, one of which I'm raising. I love kids. I have to. They MAKE my like them. <grin>
And the music.... I play a little piano and guitar, but my best is on the bass, both the bass guitar and the stand-up bass fiddle.
My favorite Bluegrass groups are the Issacs, the Inspirations, and the Easter Family. Others are Ralph Stanley, the ones on Andy Griffith.... the Dillards. There's a few new groups that I like but I can't recall the names.
Anyway, it's good to be here,
Ragweed
