  1. Well I'm back at work today..Tuesday evening was going along as usual, one of Rons electrians stopped by to pick up his paycheck so Ron went out front to meet him, with Blackbeard on his shoulders as usual. Ron took his hand off of kitty to reach into his pocket and right then a stray dog came running, so Blackbeard jumped off his shoulders and just ran...ran straight into my neighbors back yard. Neighbor has 1 older mutt and a year and half old pitbull. Thankfully I was standing at the door and saw him run in..I ran after him but not before the dogs saw him..needless to say alot of teeth were flying...but Blackbeard is my baby...so here I am with multiple holes in my hands, scratches all over..went to the hospital got several shots (thankfully no rabies..every animal had their shots) and now have antibiotics and vicidan?? But the good news..not one scratch on Blackbeard (pitbull got pretty torn up)..Please excuse me for not responding much as it does hurt to type..

  2. Oh Sweetie!!! it's a good thing that you saw poor little BB. I hope you feel better soon!!

    Hugs from all of us!

  3. Nice save 2b! Sorry you got hurt in the process. Bet that pit bull thinks twice before going after another cat--we learn by doing. Get better soon!

  4. Oh 2B!!! Thank goodness you saw and got Blackbeard before he got hurt. Sorry that you are hurt though. At least your neighbors are responsible enough to make sure their dogs have their shots. Vicadin is good..I have had that before. {hugs} feel better soon!!

  5. A series of unfortunate actions... Did Blackbeard molest the pitbull??? Apologies and hugs to the poor lil' dog. ;) Anyway it's great BB didn't get injured and I hope the neighbors continue to be in good terms with you. (Scritches and hugs to BB too and hugs to you. Take good care of those wounds.)

  7. I have to say that I also feel sorry for the dog who got ripped up. There he was in his own yard, minding his own business, WHEN SUDDENLY...

  8. Oh :-( Now I look like I have no feelings...

There are cat people and there are dog people and there are all animal lovers....
I am a cat person... dogs don't seem to like me...
So when I hear it was Blackbeard against a dog, my heart was with the frightened kitty and I gave not a second of though to the poor dog...

    I'm guilty... sue me!

  9. PM...LOL~I am a cat person also, of course, but having ONE dog among my 7 cats, I see how protective he is of *our* yard and *his* cats, chasing away any cats who don't belong here. He has been attacked by a pit bull who got loose and ran into our yard, he confronted the pit bull fearlessly and my cats all got away. The pit bull's owner ran down the street and got his dog off my dog. Eventually they got rid of it, thankfully.

  10. I can only imagine how utterly frightening that was for everyone involved. Way to go, 2b, for rescuing BB before he got hurt (although my heart does go out to the pitbull).

  11. Thanks guys..The neighbors in this case have been our best friends for about 20 years..I apologized to them, it was our fault not theirs. They aren't upset, just worried about me and Ron, he took a big cut also from BB when he pulled him out from behind where I had wrestled the dogs to the ground. I patched up the dog, he got one good bite on his face and a scratch by the eye and several scratches on his throat..I also took the pitbull some leftover T-bone steak..

  12. Glad to hear that you have great neighbors! How kind of you to take care of the dog after all the uproar--T-bone steak makes for easy forgiveness doesn't it!

I do feel sorry for the poor scratched dogs (they are inferior after all)

  15. I'm also glad that the dog is ok--poor thing! Knowing dogs, he probably forgot after the first taste of steak! :)

thank goodness Blackbeard didn't get away/or get hurt!

  18. It is so dangerous to get in between fighting animals, but when one of your babies is involved....you just do it. I hope your wounds heal quickly, you are fortunate that it wasn't worse. Happy to hear Blackbeard is OK! Heal quickly!

  23. 2b - I have to ask: who gave the dog the scratches & bites - you or BB? :)

    Posted 3 years ago by Jenni9420 #

  24. 2b...I have to ask...Was the bite on the pitbull's face from Blackbeard or from you? And have you had your rabies shots? LOL. In all seriousness,so glad you & Ron came out with few injuries. I'll bet BB also already had a plan as to where to escape to safety. Hope your healing is quick.

  25. Thank God you saw this all, 2bPurring and that were able to save Blackbeard. The dogs were doing what is natural and it seems all is okay. Now if one of these dogs got into your yard and did harm to BB, then it would be a different reaction.

Glad to hear all is okay and am sorry for your "war" wounds. Hope you heal quickly.

  26. Jenni...it seems good minds think alike. :)

Posted 3 years ago by feral #

  27. Wow 2BP, I am amazed at how clearly you were able to see and think so quickly. I think I would have been frozen in horror. And to jump right in and wrestle the dogs down - double WOW. I love kitties and like dogs but teeth of either variety are very scary to me. You are definately today's hero and I hope you, Ron and the doggie heal quickly!

Posted 3 years ago by DancingCatHill #

  28. Jenni and Susie..you crack me up....If I would have thought about in time, maybe I would have bitten the dog..but it was BB...Ron says I looked like a mama lion protecting her cub...

  29. Wow! I know how scared you were. I rescued my oldest when she was little from an Alsation that was mauling her and got chewed up badly myself. A decade later I had to rescue one of my orangies from a dog pack who jumped over our fence into the backyard. I ran them off with a lead pipe and he survived with a few stitches to the ripe old age of 22. Needless to say ALL of my kids are strictly indoors critters now. Get well quickly. That was very brave of you.

  30. 2b, you were courageous! Lets put the blame where it really belongs----on the owner of the loose dog who scared BB.

You are lucky the pit bull didn't get his mouth around BB. This year I was putting up my Christmas tree in my front window when I saw 2 pit bulls attack a meezer feral kitten that had been born in my yard--right on my front porch! I dropped everything and ran outside to save her not even thinking of the danger to myself, but it was too late. I was screaming, still in my robe and nightgown. A few days later I told my neighbor, who helps with the ferals also, she told me the dogs tried to attack her and her 90-year-old mother when they were taking their dog to PetSmart. She followed them to their house and confronted the owner--he told her to go F**K herself. She gave me their address, so I got dressed and drove to the house. There were the dogs, one tied up in front of the house and the other loose. I called the police, who came out and called animal control after they talked to the owner, who claimed the loose one wasn't theirs (after they told my neighbor it was!)Animal control took aweay the loose one, which was very vicious, the police had their guns drawn when it appeared the dog might overpower the control guy. Then they gave the woman summonses for harboring a dangerous animal and not having a license for 3 dogs (a third was in the backyard). The city destroyed the one they caught, so at least I have the satisfaction that the cats and children in our area will be safer. I was so upset by this I couldn't even talk about it until now, even to all my friends here at TDK. (sorry to go on so long)
