  1. OH 2b...You are my hero!!! I'd have definitely done the same thing as you did! BB certainly seems to have skated by on this one, Whew! I'm glad...I know the pit bull (poor guy) is made of tough stuff and could take a bit of a bite and some scratches from BB. However I cringe at what may have happened to Blackbeard if it was the reverse. You take care of those bites and scratches 2b...*incredible visuals on this story!*

  2. I'm perplexed...I submitted a post here and the topic list shows that I was the last to post but it isn't here!!!! Whaaa!
    Anyway:
    2b..How heroic you were in this situation. I'm proud and would have done the same thing. Hopefully everyone will heal nicely and I fear for what may have happened to our beloved Blackbeard if the PitBull had gotten the upperhand here. Whew!

  4. Oh Shebas Mom..How terrifing that must have been for you..I'm so sorry that you were not able to save the kitten, but I know you did everything you could..I was very lucky..I know these dogs and they are good dogs..they were just doing what comes natural to them..you're right that the blame belongs to the loose dog...nobody knows whos dog it is, we rarley get many stray dogs by us, we are almost to the very end of a long, dead end street. I'm glad you took action against the irrisponcible dog owner. {{HUGS}} to you and hope that they have either moved or become more responcible..

  5. I've had that happen before too Karenopa..It's kinda like TDK slipped into the Twighlight Zone for a moment...

  6. Oh Sheba's mom! How awful for you. Glad you took down one bad dog. I can't stand dogs who run loose and their obnoxious owners who fail to take responsibility for them.

  7. Wow Sheba's Mom...That is a horrific story and I'm real proud that you confronted these irresponsible pet owners and got the authorities involved. That dog could in fact have killed a child very quickly and effortlessly! I'm glad the woman was issued a citation. I doubt that it will change her attitude..but due to your actions...a life may in fact have been spared. Poor little kitty never had a chance. Thanks for sharing your story SM..it wouldn't be an easy one for me to tell either. {{{hugs}}}

  8. Sheba's mom, you are *my* hero. A loving heart reacts without thinking of the consequences to themselves. That was a terribly traumatic situation. I know it is haunting. Try to breathe deeply when you think about it.

  11. 2b, you are one brave lady. I never had a problem with dogs until a few years back when I was trying to help what I thought was a stray. She (a small alsation) was fine, but by the time I noticed her friend (a very NOT small alsation) it was to late, and my backside took the brunt of it. I would have been quite badly hurt, but a couple of men in a car stopped and frightened the dog off. As it was, the bruises I had were huge, and I couldn't walk properly for a week. The courage you must have had to get in there with the dogs already snarling...well, I take my hat off to you.

  13. Oh Sheba's Mom, what a horrible experience for you. I am very sorry you were not able to save the meezer kitten but am glad you were able to do something about the dogs. OMG, MCW! Thank God those guys were there to help scare off the dog. You were very lucky!

    I cannot stand seeing a dog loose and the obnoxious owners doing nothing about it. Back in 1994-1999, I lived in a an old victorian in Marin that had been converted to an eight unit place. Two of the units faced a back yard where one of my neighbors did a little gardening (tomatos, herbs, catnip, corn, and other vegitables. The yard had a low level white fence with a gate opening. The gate was suppose to stay closed but we had some people in the building who couldn't be bothered with closing it after themselves. A couple of times I recalled a stray dog coming into the yard to bark at my cat who was sunning herself on the back steps. The dog was a Rottweiler and I was so angry that I didn't think about the danger but walked up to the dog with the hose and yelled at it. I wasn't going to spray it but was going to use the hose to beat it with. Thankfully it backed off and left and didn't come around anymore. It had tags on it and I wish I could have read them to report the dog to the police. We had about four or five cats in the building who would sometimes all be out in the yard or up in one of the trees. There was a neighbor who fed the ferals in the area so I think the dog was just coming around to harass the cats.

  14. 2b, my hat is off to you, way to go! It is nice to know no one is up in arms about the confrontation, too. Good neighbors are priceless. Hope you and Ron feel better soon. I left a treat for BB at Catster ;-)

    Sheba's Mom, wow, how brave you are - so sorry the meezer baby did not make it. At least you were able to rid your neighborhood of one dangerous mongrel.

  15. kittymom, BB thanks you for the treat...he has been getting alot of extra Greenies at home too...
    Sheba's Mom...How are you doing hun? I thought about you all last night and how traumtic that must have been, I realize even more now how very lucky I was and thanked my neighbor again for raising their dogs so well or I would likely be going thru what you are..
