I think if I have an opportunity to adopt another cat, I will go for a senior citizen. We can grow old together!

paulajeanneMT, I am with you, I adopted two seniors about 5 years ago. They were 10 and 8 years respectively, their owner couldn't take care of them and her daughter didn't want them. So she took them to the shelter and said if they couldn't be adopted to put them down, I took them in on their last day. Both are wonderful cats, the oldest one died last year of kidney failure but he had a good 4.5 years with me and 2 years good on his insulin. His roommate, Max is still going strong @ 13 years old now...he has the softest fur, great purr motor and good personality.

My one worry would be that a senior would be standoffish but it sounds from your experience that they can become attached to a new owner. Have others found that to be so?
