new kitten and TONS of questions ><

  1. Salem is still just a baby and he views you as his mommy. He's been through a lot in his short life and you are the one who is giving him all his care. Of course he wants you to be there 24/7.

He will probably always be a really loving cat, but he'll probably get less clingy when he gets older. Just like real kids, enjoy his babyhood while you can. It won't be too long before you call him and his response is "I'm doing something right now - I'll get back to you."

  2. Take baby Salem with you and don't be concerned that he will have to stay in a shut room. He will be quite happy sharing your room with his own litter and feeding stations. (you can use a disposable litter pan during the visit). Just take his essentials (meds, toys, favorite blankie) If you are driving, food and dishes. Regardless of transportation, cat carrier, harness and leash for his protection.

  3. This may sound like the ultimate crazy cat lady thing to do, but could you get one of those baby slings and stick him in it and carry him around with you at your moms house. If he is bundled up next to you he may not cry and the other pets may not notice that he is there.

  5. I second that KYKAT 12 23! That's how I use to carry my girl around when I bring her to my office. She's safe and she's all snuggled up on my chest, keeping her warm and my heartbeat reminds her of mommy. It's a wonderful idea.

I use a large piece of sarong for that purpose. Any large cloth will do but make sure it is secured. Oh, how I wish I could still do that! I felt my maternal instinct kicking into full drive, although I was just being a mommy to a little furball at that time.

  6. Hope I don't get "banned for Spam" for this post! Here's a link to a "baby sling" that is made specifically for kitties. You can even get it monogrammed ;-)

If the link doesn't work, google Drs Foster and Smith, go to the web site and search "cats - carriers and crates" It is called a "Pet Pouch Carrier".
