  1. Husband lost a filling, and now it sounds like the tooth may be abcessed (sp?). Has a dentist appt. Wednesday, but may need to go in sooner. Waiting right now for some scripts to be filled, including an antibiotic for him. Near the end of the month, so have to figure how to pay for it all. (BTW, husband's been showing some impressive acts of maturity lately; will have to write in more detail later.)

Have a very important paper to be revised/resubmitted this week. Have a chart that needs to be redone because the wrong data were used, and the stat guy has gone to Taiwan to get married, so I have to fix it. Will have to get help from the IT guy tomorrow. Anyone out there know how to use Excel?

Have an appt. with Pastor tomorrow, will probably be the last private talk I have with him. Mentioned his retirement in the sermon yesterday, first time he's acknowledged it during a service. Got a neat thing in the mail from his older daughter: A refrigerator magnet announcing the date of her wedding, noting "Formal invitation to follow." Never saw this done before. Her mom said magnets were sticking to each other through the envelopes when mailed; was afraid someone was going to get a big bunch of them. Odd to think that, when I see him at the wedding, will have to call Pastor by his first name.

  2. I can't help you with Excel, Leeny. I'm thrilled to hear that your husband is showing some maturity. That has been a long time coming!! I hope the pain in his tooth goes away soon.

  3. KW, he's working his way through the laundry, has gone to the grocery store two weeks in a row, spent weekend before last cooking meals for the whole week, kept his mouth shut when the landlord came over in a bad mood and started some unjustified complaining (landlord's very nice, was just tired and not feeling well that day), handled some other complicated social situations gracefully, called Pastor's home to invite him and his wife out to dinner with us next month (his own idea), made his dental appt. for Wed. so that it wouldn't interfere with my appt. with Pastor, is willing to go to the dentist in a taxi if he has to do so tomorrow. Very encouraging.

  5. Wow, by most standards it sounds like he's a leading contender for the "husband of the year" award! How nice for you, Leeny ;-)

  10. The IT guy is making the chart for me. He thinks it was originally done in some kind of speciality statistical program that only the statistician has. He said it would be faster for him to redo it in Excel than to explain to me how to do it.

I'm off to see Pastor now; I'll check back in later.

  11. That is great that your husband is making an effort to do things for you both. I am very glad to hear that. It takes some pressure off of you and hopefully he gets some joy out of all his efforts. Hugs to you both.

  12. The IT guy did a good job on the figure. The paper's done, except for some questions that I have to ask my boss tomorrow. The cover letter needs to be done, too, then it's out of here.

The conversation with Pastor went well. I found out a bit about his plans for the future, and began saying goodbye. He's taking courses that will qualify him to become an interim pastor himself, to other congregations. His daughter is getting married in December, so he will not be leaving the area at least until then. Not sure where he'll be attending church. Called him by his first name once during the meeting. Feels odd.

My husband will be at the dentist in less than 24 hours. He's taking the antibiotic, and has been eating quite a bit of ice cream. That surprises me; I thought ice cream made a toothache worse. He says it isn't bothering him, though.

Here's another interesting item that my husband said no one would believe except him and me; I told him I know a lot of people who would believe it. Yesterday and today, Penny came up to him on the couch, put her paws on the telephone, looked at him, and meowed. Now, if Penny is around when he calls me at work, he'll "put her on the phone" for me to talk to her. She meows, purrs, and licks the receiver. Anyway, when she did that, he called me and held the receiver up to her ear. Yesterday I got a lot of meowing; today was mainly purring. He believes that she's asking him to call me, and as bright as she is, I wouldn't be surprised!
