  1. Tuttibella, you are doing everything an excellent kittymom should be doing.. I certainly hope Lucy Belle gets better soon... do you really have to wait 'til Thursday for the results? That seems like a long time for a urinalysis, even if they have to culture the "bug".... Prayers, healing white light, and tiny little kitty kisses for Lucy Belle, and {{{hugs}}} for you!!!

  2. Is she maybe using the tub because it's hard for her to clean herself with the collar? I know my boys come out of the litterbox with litter everywhere that they then have to clean off.

  3. I'm also worried about poor little Lucy Belle having to wait for her antibiotic. I have *personally* endured a UTI myself. It hurts to pee! Let her go in the tub if it makes her feel better. I don't understand why the vet didn't give her an antibiotic right away to cut this off at the pass. From what I understand, it gets worse and not better on it's own and to wait until Thursday seems to be a long time. I have no medical background so perhaps I am wrong, but my vet told me that if I had waited another day or two to bring Wolfie in and start antibiotics his urine would have started to have crystals and we would have had a much more serious situation.

  9. Thanks for the kind words AZDEBRA.
I seem to get a rep as a "know it all" but really all I am is nosy. Something catches my eye and I start rooting around for more information. Often it leads to something else and that leads to yet another thing.
Since I have never been able to settle on one thing (College majors in Classical Music, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Computer Science)I am often asked what I want to be when I grow up.
I have taken my mantra from a Robert Heinlein quote.
"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects." And I am certain that that is the short list.

  12. Ah, the wonderful words of Lazurus Long. You do have the full quote there Ailuromanic, and I agree with it whole heartedly.

Which probably explains why it took me so long to settle on art as a career but I still buy books on computer programing

  13. The short list comment was meant literally.
Time Enough for Love would never have been finished if Heinlein had insisted on covering all the bases. For example, he did not include sewing a button (a vital skill).

  14. Poor Lucy, it does hurt to pee with an infection--I hate for her to wait until Thursday. Let her use the tub for now-when she's better it will be easier to get her back to the box since she isn't associating it with the pain right now. She might decide to go in another spot since peeing in the tub hurts too.

  15. Hi! Thank you all for thinking of Lucy Belle. She still have problems urinating, only a few drops at a time but mostly, she'll be squatting for minutes and nothing. :( She's no longer going to the tub though and using her litterbox. Such a strong girl.

I called the vet and she asked me if Lucy Belle is in pain while urinating, i.e growling or making lots of noise. But she didn't. It appears that she's not. Since tomorrow we are going back, we'll see what's the best course of action for her.

Also, she slept with me last night and used my leg as her headrest! :) I didn't dare move and this morning, my leg is so sore. But it's nothing compared to what she's going through. I sense that she's being extremely needy and cling to me all the time. Usually, she doesn't bother me while I am working on my computer but this morning and a while ago, she attempted to jump onto my lap. She couldn't so I just scooped her up and place her on my lap. She's napping on me now.

I realized that her fur are matted on her behind and also they were some dried feces on her anus. I tried to wipe it but she growled at me. Maybe she's not comfortable with me cleaning it. Since she's not been grooming herself, she's a little messy down there. I wish I could do more to help.

Other than that, she's eating well. Finish all her meals and been drinking lots of water as usual.

  16. I hope she keeps improving tuttibella. It's so weird that you were so worried about her going to the spa and now she's having such a hard time. ((hugs))

  17. TB, I don't know if it can be compared, but I had a bladder infection a few years ago, and I had trouble going as well, but no pain.
Hug the little sweetie from me!

  18. GreatDane : I've had some painful UTI myself and I sort of know what she is going through. The urge to pee is the worst part of it and I totally understand the need for her to go to her litterbox all the time. Cats are good at hiding their illness so I really hope that she is not doing that for now. I would want to know if she is in any kind of pain at all.

I checked on her surgery site today and the wound has dried. I could even see some blood crust around it, not sure if it's a good thing.

Huddys Mama : Yeah, I don't know why I was really anxious about her spay surgery. Even weeks before it, I couldn't sleep well, staying up all night thinking about it. I guess I just have this instinct, and also because I have such a close bond with her. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw me and I am her mommy. My heart is just so heavy now, I think I will break down. I have tried to hold it ...

  21. My heart goes out to little LucyBelle...poor baby girl...I'm sending prayers and much love that she hangs in there and heals nicely...I just wish we didn't have to wait til Thursday to get her back in there. Can you call the vet and inquire as to whether the results have come back yet? Is the vet aware of the fact she's only urinating a couple of drops at a time? Poor little girl..Your in my thoughts and prayers.

  22. Just checking in on Lucy Belle. Is her tummy soft and not distended? No vomiting? No feverish feeling to the belly? Eyes clear, nose moist? Other than the urgency to go is she calm or restless?

Do place that last minute call to see if the results are back. You may get a jump on the process.

I know you won't get much sleep tonight but do try.

Posted 3 years ago by ailuromaniac #

  23. Tuttibella, I understand your worrying over your beloved little LucyBelle when she isn't feeling well. If you see new blood crusting at the wound site, you might call your vet to ask about that and to also mention that she is only urinating a few drops at a time. Hugs, purrs, and healing white light that Lucy Belle gets better quickly.

  24. I am soooo glad to hear that she's OK. Hopefully tomorrow there will be a plan of action before the weekend. I hope that she can stop wearing the collar since it will now be a week after her surgery. Hugs and cuddles.

  25. Oh man ... ok.. I just don't know what to do anymore!!!

Lucy Belle woke up a while ago and I went to inspect her surgery site. And now, at the very end of her sutures, I felt a raised lump. I've never felt it before. It's like the size of a grape, round and hard. When I touch it, it feels hot. What is going on now? The vet is close, the resident vet is on vacation. I might have to bring her to the ER! Am I over reacting?

Posted 3 years ago by tuttibella #

  26. Hugs to Lucy Belle and to you Tuttibella, please update us as soon as you can about little Lucy Belle.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  27. Called the ER and the vet asked me to bring her in. He wants to make sure it's not a hernia, a rejection of her internal stitches and all sorts of stuffs. I don't know why he has to say this to me but I am terrified! I am really weeping now. Another trip and now to the ER.

  30. I can't seems to post with my old username. I don't really know why so I had to re-register. I hope this post shows though.

I posted yesterday but I can see it when I am log in but others can't see it and also when I am logged out.

Update : Lucy Belle went to the ER yesterday. She has develop a raised lump, the size of a grape, hard and hot to the touch, on her incision site. Will keep everyone posted when I get more test results. It has been a very long night and I am not exactly in the right frame of mind right now.
