Sending the TDK healing white light your way, Tuttibella. Poor little Lucy Belle. You are doing everything in your power to bring her through this. She was a very healthy, robust kitty before her spa trip. That will help her recover from whatever is currently going on. I hope you are taking good care of yourself too, Tuttibella.

Poor Lucy Belle. I'm holding good thoughts for her. Let's hope it's just a minor surgical set back, like a popped internal stitch, and she's back to her old bouncy self very soon.

Oh for goodness sakes...OK, I'm really going to be a pain now...I'm not a vet but I am an MD - she really needs antibiotics and Tuttibella I really think you need to go where they will attend to her right away. Like I had posted before a urine infection after this surgery is waaay too coincidental. More likely than not they are related infections and she needs antibiotics to cover both. Of course it could be a hernia, but again I pojt out the coincidence (???) Urinalysis take less than 24 hours and urine cultures take 24-48 hours!! All this information should be available right now if dealing with a legit lab. Sorry, I did not want to assert myself but all I care about right now is Lucy Belle.
If you want any more info Tuttibella feel free to Email me , brendajose@aol.com

Tigerlilly, I bow to the superior medical degree. Hard hot and feverish lump, I'd go with abcess? That would fit with an onset of UTI as the first sign. Drain the lesion and with take a quick look at Graham's for pos or neg and hit it with a powerful antibotic in case the bug-ugly is resistant?

What a wealth of medical knowledge we have on this site! Nice to get a professional "consult" to help Tuttibella figure out what is going on with sweet Lucy Belle. :)
I hope/trust that the ER staff took immediate action to address the latest symptoms. Tuttibella must be exhausted from all her worries.Posted 3 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

Tutti-Bella, please try to get some rest. I know you're getting Lucy Belle the veterinary attention she needs. This is a stressful situation to deal with, but it's made harder when one is short on sleep, not eating regularly, etc.
I'm keeping you and Lucy Belle in my thoughts, and I hope for her quick recovery.

You are absolutely right ailuromaniac: "hot to touch" by definition means infection and is likely an abscess...I just hope to God that she is on antibiotics while they continue to "wait for more tests"! There is such a thing as a clinical diagnosis of infection; also test are not perfect, if a patient (in this case pretty Lucy Belle) is having symptoms and on exam there are positive signs of infection, there is nothing to loose in starting antibiotics and potentially a lot could worsen by waiting especially after surgery when you are in a somewhat weakened state....Enough, I am just worried sick...

Her last update was around 8 pm 4/23. It is definitely alarming that we have not had an update since.

The last post I see from Tuttibella says 3 hours ago which would be about 1pm EST(my time), This is what it says:
can't seems to post with my old username. I don't really know why so I had to re-register. I hope this post shows though.I posted yesterday but I can see it when I am log in but others can't see it and also when I am logged out.
Update : Lucy Belle went to the ER yesterday. She has develop a raised lump, the size of a grape, hard and hot to the touch, on her incision site. Will keep everyone posted when I get more test results. It has been a very long night and I am not exactly in the right frame of mind right now.
Tuttibella you and Lucy Belle are in my prayers and thoughts, please update when you can and let us know. Hugs to both of you!!

Ailu--she posted just 3 hrs. ago. She had to change her screen name. I'm sure that she's exhausted and is trying to catch up on all of the sleep she's missed/is missing. I just hope pretty Lucy Belle is ok.

Tuttibella..I had similar experience last year. I took our kitty to a free spay clinic, instead of the regular vet. All seemed to be healing fine,(they used dissolving sutures). Within one week, there suddenly appeared a hot, golf ball sized lump at the suture site. Took her to regular vet.........By the time I got there, most of the liquid had drained out of the suture site. He was able to drain more out, then took an x ray. All looked to be normal, and nothing conclusive. She was prescribed Clavamox, and no recurrences during that time period. Several days after being off the Clavamox, the golf ball sized lump returned. Back to vet, who ordered surgery for the next day. I was very upset..........Poor kitty to be opened up twice within a month. Surgery went well, as the vet said,"I scooped her clean"!! He found the dissolving sutures, and some other things that should have been removed prior, to have caused all the havoc.............And kitty is just fine and healthy now. I hope Lucy Belle will not need another surgery, and that antibiotics will right the situation. Sending positive and caring thoughts your way. On a lighter note....... The "free" spay still ended up costing $200 !! :(

12PAW, thank God your kitty recovered well after such an ordeal.
The problem , once there is an abscess ( basically a walled off infection) , is that no antibiotic in the world will cure it unless it is completely drained off its capsule. Of course antibiotics are needed once the drainage has been completed and especially in Lucy Belle's case because the infection is in her urine and could easily go into her blood.
Tuttibella, forgive me if I'm scaring you, it is not my intention. All of this is easily treated, but it has to be done promptly and correctly. My prayers are with you, hope that both of you are just getting some much needed rest.Posted 3 years ago by Tigerlilly #
