  1. I don't know, PJ. His brother and fiance visited maybe 6 months ago or so and he put them up for one night and then put them up in a hotel. Sounds strange to me - it's family! He's got two offices, but does have a guest room. Of course, he's got back issues and likes to sleep in one bed one night and the other the next, but still.....
I don't recall having ever put family in a hotel. I mean, when my brother was here for 3 weeks, I gave him my bed and slep on an air mattress on the floor of my tiny studio-esque apartment.

And nothing much goes on there, he's not home that much. I had my own key and was told to go hang out whenever. Especially when I didn't have cable hooked up at my place, I used to just drop by there all the time, whether he was there or not, to watch something.

  2. Glad he's ex, sounds like he has issues more than committment ones!

  3. Yep!

  4. You know, it's sad how many good people are out there that have these different issues or emotional baggage of some kind. Most of them are great people, too!

  5. GD, when I owned my 2000 Toyota Rav4L, at 55k miles I had the engine light go on. I took it in and they had to replace two different valves and also did a tune up. It cost me a bundle because I found out the toyota dealership charged $115/hr for labor alone. Half of the cost was the labor. I sold the car when the engine light came on for the third time and they told me it was a fuel valve and that the valve was in an area that could only be effected if the car was in an accident. Carfax said it was clean but I later found out if the car comes from another state, Carfax is useless as they only focus on the state where you are located. I informed the new owners of this and they were okay with it since the price was good.

  6. Yeah, I think I'm feeling something when I'm sitting at red lights which has me really NOT wanting to battle traffic going down to the gym in 10 minutes. XBF never did call - he'd better still be at the gym to take a look at it. I also don't feel good about having to go drive it now without having my cell phone with me if something happens. Ah, well, no use worrying about it now, I guess!

  7. GD you are a woman to be admired for being the energizer bunny. As for putting people/relatives up in hotels, when my kids come to visit they stay in hotels because they have problems with breathing around the cats. Two of them have asthma and the other one has allergies, so its safer for everyone to do that. They know getting rid of my furrbabies is not an option so that is not brought up.

  8. That makes sense, AZDeb, but I doubt both XBF's parents and brother and fiance would be allergic to his cat.

Day's getting worse, by the way, but at least it's almost over!
Made it to the gym without breaking down, but XBF wasn't here to look at the car. &%&$#^ trainer guy was annoying me and I was just feeling tired and sluggish during the workout.
Now I'm working until nine and went to check my email - had one labeled "IMPORTANT" from Boss' wife. Wanted me to call her as I wasn't answering my phone (which still is MIA). So I called her and her daughter is in pain from her foot surgery two weeks ago and she's thinking of taking her to the hospital. If she doesn't, she wanted me to take her to school tomorrow. I told her I couldnt as I'm at the gym from6 to 9 and then straight to my tennis match. She seemed annoyed and told me she'd ask somebody else. Then she said that she'll probably need me to stay at the house with her animals this weekend - didn't ask - just told me. And I have two other families I'm dog-sitting for this weekend!!!
    Arrrgh!

  9. Oh Oh GD, sounds like Boss's wife is annoyed because you said no to her. It sure wasn't nice of her to be so rude to you when you are doing her the favor. Sheesh! Some people assume too much. Sounds like boss's wife is assuming you are her family assistant..pick up her daughter and stay at home to dog-sit.

  10. Sheesh! Some people! Altho usually you get along with her, don't you GD? And I gotta tell ya, while reading your escapades does wear me out, it also is inspiring me! (to work out much harder) So thank you!!

  11. You're welcome!
I'm always nice to Boss' wife. She used to play on my tennis team, and she's the one who offered me the position with her husband, though she's not involved in the work at all. The thing is that though I knew her from tennis for years and dog-sat for them and was always nice to her, I just don't really like her. But, of course I don't let her know that. It got better when she moved to another club and now I rarely have to speak to her.
Anyway, she gets pretty demanding. I KNOW she wouldn't pay me to drive her daughter around town on off hours - not even for gas - wouldn't even occur to her. Thing is, if she had asked me nicely or her husband had, I wouldn't mind at all, but I hate being taken for granted just because I always try to help everybody out.
If she's annoyed, that's too bad - I'm already working my butt off covering the office while Boss is out of town.
    Arrrrgh!
Oh, and now I get to drive hom in the dark with the engine light on and no cell phone at nine!!!!

  12. Where is your dang cell!!! Did you try calling it from a land line phone? I do that sometimes to follow the ring...good luck GD! Drive extra carefully!

  13. Linda, I worked out Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and now the trainer I joined in the workout with his client on Saturday just asked me if I'm working Saturday. I said I was and he invited me to join them again, so I hope to do so if it's not too busy.
I'll get to take a break Thursday and Friday (playing tennis Thursday) and then work out again with him Saturday when I've recovered a bit. Sunday I'm playing tennis again.
&(*^$% trainer guy is leaving tomorrow and not back until Sunday night so he says he'll email me some routines I can do by myself while he's gone. We'll see - I feel pretty spent, but I'm really enjoying it. It was cool to have one of the other traners noticing yesterday that I'm gettin in shape - that's a nice motivator. I can also alreay tell that I've firmed up my arms and legs. Funny I always thought I had strong legs, from tennis and hours and hours of bike riding, but I don't really - at least not compared to how they hopefully will be.

  14. I don't have a land line!!!! But I called at the office and at the gym and nothing. I dohave an extra phone somewhere that I bought and then didn't like. I think I know where it is and I can charge it and use it until I hopefully find the other one.

  15. This is really great, GD! Especially since it should make your game better, eh? (with the bonus of looking better in a swimsuit ;))

  16. Awww poor Great Dane!!! HUGS

  17. :( poor me! Almost done, though - 34 minutes til close and if I can just make it home, I can watch Ghost Hunters for a while - that'll help!

It IS great, Linda! I had someone tell me the other day what a different player I was on the tennis court, and I've had another 3 comment on me getting fitter. Yay! Maybe I can go shopping for a bathing suit in a month or two!!!

  18. Arrrrrrgh! Never-ending yucky day!!!
I managed to get home from the gym and actually catch a bit of Ghost Hunters! Yay! Searched all over for the phone, but couldn't find it! Then I got the other one out and charged it a bit, but it wouldn't turn on! I needed it for the alarm clock - I always use the one in my phone. At 10:30, I gave up and ran to CVS and bought an alarm clock. Got home and spent an hour trying to get the darn thing to work!!!!! Couldn't do it. At this point I was SO tired and I figured I'd just have to stay up all night - or til 4:40 anyway - so I could get to the gym. I was so exhausted, some frustrated tears were shed and quite a few things thrown around, as well.
I finally went back to the phone and tried again. Turned out I just hadn't charged it long enough!!!!! I guess you get to a point where you're so tired your brain just sort of stops thinking clearly!
So , I finally got to sleep around 12:45 and then got up at 4:40. My eyes are nice annd gritty and itchy from lack of sleep and I'm just so tired.

At least the car is still running - and I have tennis at ten! Then I go to work at the office until five and then - I'm OFF!!!!! No going to the gym tonight for workout or work. Yay!

  19. Poor GD you sound like your ready to drop...your going to wear yourself down to nothing..take some time for yourself..as far as the phone goes..maybe if you could have your boss call the number while you look in your truck..those SUVs have a lot of places a phone can slip down and hide...Lost my phone in my SUV countless times...had to have someone call me while I sat inside till I could locate it..

  20. Please rest tonight...maybe a glass of wine and a buuble bath, then cuddle with your furry boys. I am so glad phone #2 is in order. Hoping to hear a well rested GD tomorrow.

  21. Poor GD...I understand about being so tired that your brain stops thinking clearly. Thank goodness you have this evening free to catch up on some much needed rest.

  22. I'm thinking a nice bath and then decaf and Bailey's to relax and a book to read and two furrboys to hang out with. I'm going to try and see if I can get to sleep no later than 8:30 to get my 8 hours. Maybe I'll take a Sudafed PM or something to help me get to sleep.

My direct boss at the gym mentioned today for the second day in a row about me working there full time. If they'd raise my pay, I'd really like to do it, but I don't want to jump into anything to quickly, either. On the other hand, the opportunity to work there full time is not going to be around forever, either. Arrrrgh!

Posted 4 years ago by GreatDane #

  23. GD.. can you have a sit-down one-on-one conversation with direct boss about salary? Since you are not taking advantage of the apt, maybe a deal could be struck... if that is what you want to do :)

Posted 4 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  24. Maybe, 2P.
XBF just came by the office to use his scanner thing to determine why the engine light was on. He says it's just a valve and not a problem - hope he's right. He also tried calling my cell when we were out there - Yay! - cell phone has now been found - under the driver's seat with 17 missed calls! (I don't dare look!).
Anyway, he mentioned that he spoke to the boss lady this moning, and she mentioned how happy she is with me there and how she'd really like to have me there full-time. I'm thinking if I do chose to do it, that I could work 6 to 4 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and then Thursdays 6 to 9 and 2 to 4 or whenever so I can play tennis. I can also work Saturdays 8 to 1. It's still a bunch of hours, but would be less than I've got right now between the two jobs and also more fun that this job. Even if they can't match my current hourly salery, I can still be okay with the money I'd make with these hrs.
The work schedule can still be pretty flexible as I can switch with someone if I need time off.

Hmmmm, I'm tempted, but really still want to put in some more time at the gym to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

Posted 4 years ago by GreatDane #

  25. Oh, and my boss lady isn't the one deciding salary and such, that's the co-owner who hired me and is already paying me more than the rest of them. So it would be up to her whether I could get a raise in salary. I was thinking the difference in pay is $2.00 and even if she' raise it $1.00 an hour it would make a nice difference.

Posted 4 years ago by GreatDane #

  26. Sometimes money isn't the answer. If you are happy what you are doing, that can more than make up for money -- as long as you have enough to live on.
