  1. This morning when I was getting ready for work I come out of the shower and what do I see?
Pipa dragging her little fluffy behind all over my floor! She left a trail of (excuse me) cat poo all through the corridor.
    What happened?
Is she OK? should I worry (more then I already am?)
I cleaned her up with warm water and her bottom seemed OK.
She has never done this before it was so strange to see her dragging her behind...

    Someone give me adivice please!!!

  2. PM, Fred does that too. We took him to the vet when he started doing that just to make sure he didn't have worms or a parasite. For him, he couldn't clean his backside well enough since he is a big cat. He's a lot better now, but still does it sometimes and we have to clean his butt.
Maybe Pipa just had a rogue piece of poo stuck to her an just could not get it off her fur? I would watch her, if you are worried take her to the vet just to get checked.
I would think she is okay myself.

  3. Most cats do that once in awhile. Unless you --ahem-- see something coming out of her little behind (like a worm) or notice anything else amiss, I'd consider this an isolated incident. Just watch her closely. :-)

  4. PM, I was scared to death when I saw the title of this thread!!! I'm relieved it is just a behavioral problem.

Watch around Pipa's behind area and look in the litterbox for any worms. The ones that would hang around her hiney look like grains of rice. The others that you would see in the litterbox are longer. Or, she may have just had a BM that was a little messy, and of course without toilet paper, what are her options? I think what darling Pipa did to fix the problem was rather clever! And at least she didn't do it on your bed or towel or anything.

  5. Morning, all of the above or to put it delicately, she had an itchy butt and that was one way to solve the itch. The title scared me for a moment too, have a great day :)

  6. Smokie did that too, usually when poo was stuck to her beautiful long-haired tail. We never had any medical problems with her. (Then again, there's nothin' like a good bug scratchin - ahhhh. :) But do keep an eye on Pipa and her litterbox.

  7. Thank you all... didn't mean to scare you. It's just that she is such an elegant lady cat that seeing her drag (ejem) poo all over the floor has been quite a shock. Such an unladylike posture!

I will keep a look out for (eugh) worms...

  8. PM, it's common for cats who have fecal matter clinging to their britches try to 'scoot' it off. (A quick wash up usually works wonders, especially if said feces isn't dried.)

If Pipa can be persuaded to hold still sometime in the next day or two, one could lightly trim some of the fur in the area, to help prevent future episodes. A professional groomer or your vet can also perform this service. I have to periodically trim that area on my only longhaired cat, Misty.

  9. We have had to take Fred at times to get shaved right down his backside, and it helped a lot. No more scooching. He has really stopped doing it now, we still check him after a good litter box use.

  10. But the funny thing is that Pipa isn't a long haired cat. And she hasn't fluff around her rear end. I hope it was just a bad day and I'll blame it on Aunty Catwoman's treats! (I gave her some yesterday because she had been a good girl)

  11. Fred isn't either PM(a long haired cat) it happens. I bet it just got stuck where she couldn't get it off so she did the next best thing, scare her mommy..lol

  12. Bog sends flowers to "his" Pretty Pipa and hopes that she feels better and no more need to "scooch".

    Posted 3 years ago by BCAMflorida227 #

  13. Oh no! If Pipa knows that Bog knows she is going to kill me!!!
    How embarassing!

Posted 3 years ago by PipasMumSpain #

  14. You don't have to tell Pretty Pipa WHY the King is sending flowers!! as long as you know that he hopes she is feeling better!

  15. Am I here? I just tried to post a link to a news story and it did not show up.

Posted 3 years ago by Catwoman #

  16. Oh good, there I am *whew*

I was posting a link to a news story from Yahoo, about men claiming that others had shrunk their *er* "organ" through witchcraft. This has caused a widespread panic in Congo.

Posted 3 years ago by Catwoman #

  17. *giggle* Well I wouldn't mind having my rear end shrunk with witchcraft or whatever...

  18. Me either PM! The story is so funny. Police try to point out to the "victims" that their you-know-what is NOT stolen, they still have one. Then they say it doesn't work. Witnesses have stated "I saw his (you know) and it is now VERY TINY."

  19. Whew! I was worried when I saw the topic as well! Poor Pipa having to resort to such unladylike behaviour! ;-)

  20. That is what shocked me the most Rubia! I just looked at her dragging her little behind and I couldn't utter a word!
I wouldn't have been more shocked if she had written my name on the floor!

Posted 3 years ago by PipasMumSpain #

  21. PM...I agree with the others in that Pipa might have just had a misplaced poopie that refused to leave. One time our little long-haired Misty lost her balance while in the throne,of course, right after she discarded. It took 3 days to get her clean & she also got a little clipping of her beautiful fluff so it wouldn't happen again. But do keep an eye out for worms.

  22. Poor baby! I've left her a treat on her Catster page to help her feel better!

Posted 3 years ago by Rubia in CA, 4/28 #

  23. "WRITTEN YOUR NAME ON THE FLOOR!"

    ROFL!!!!

Posted 3 years ago by Catwoman #

  24. Why did I know you were going to laugh at that CW??
    LOL

Posted 3 years ago by PipasMumSpain #

  25. Harry does this too, I think he learned it from Ruby who likes to rub her butt on the carpet. I had him checked out at the vet and nothing was wrong, he just likes the feeling

Posted 3 years ago by TheKnittingNinja #

  26. I'm imagining Miss Pipa concentrating as she scoots along...M..A...R...

    *giggling helplessly at the thought*

Posted 3 years ago by Catwoman #

  27. Hey! Don't laugh at poor itchy bum Pipa!

Ok, I admit that if she did write that on the floor I'd faint... and then what would I do? This isn't exactly a "gift" someone would pay to see...
"Ok boy, tell Pipa your name and she will write it with poo on the floor"

I'd better take her to the vet this afternoon just in case...

Posted 3 years ago by PipasMumSpain #

  28. ROFL at the "write my name". You are hilarious, PM! Poor Pipa. I would do the same as everyone mentioned. Just watch her and the litterbox. I know that my first kitty did the butt scooch once or twice that I recall. She didn't have worms so it may be that a particular piece of poo was itchy and caused her to "scoot".

Posted 3 years ago by SylvesterMiasMomma #

  29. I would keep a container of baby wipes handy just in case it happens again. Some of them contain baby oil which is very soothing...

  30. PMS, my little Bombalurina did the butt dragging thing for a couple of years. The first two times she actually had an ...uh... I must use a medical term here... anal abcess. The vet said that they weren't uncommon, and especially in overweight kitties. And Bomber was "plump". I think that it just always itched after that and we would catch her scooting on her backside across the carpet.

It was really, really charming whenever she did that during a dinner party. What a conversation piece! ARG!
