Every time I get ready to call earthstink, the internet comes on - for about 5 minutes. I give up. I am calling customer (non)support tomorrow. I am getting my internet back if I have to spend a hundred hours on the phone!!! (and I probably will have to spend 100 hours on the phone) *sighs* how am I supposed to get that stupid research paper done by wednesday if I have to spend all my free time dealing with this garbage??

Sorry you are having such trouble staying online, OW!! When my husband has to wait on hold to get to customer support, he puts the phone on speaker. That way his hands are free to do other things. It's a nuisance, but it lets you multi-task. I hope they can fix whatever gremlins lurking in your internet connection!!

Poor OW...Our high speed went out the other day and we did just what KW suggested...put the phone on speaker...Ugh! The music they pipe is the worst! Who chooses the music???? It really should be something nice and soothing...wouldn't you think? So the customer is at least calm after waiting for 15 minutes to talk to someone about the service they're not providing you....Yikes! Hang in there OW...keep calling them.

Still posting from the college library computers. I tried got in touch with earthstink last night and they ran some tests then told me to call back in the morning to talk to billing to get a new modem. A couple of hours after the call, we noticed that the telephone was also dead. So now we have no internet and no telephone.
I called back last night and was told to call back this morning to talk to a 'master technician.' I called back and talked to the technician for about 2 seconds then got cut off either by my cell phone or by them - not sure which. I kept trying to call back but every time I called, I would get cut off after a few minutes of waiting on hold. Earthstink has something seriously wrong with their system. I finally gave up because I had to come down here to school to work on my research paper.
I have no idea how long this garbage is going to take to get straightened out but, hopefully, I will be back soon.

Earthsink .. haha .. i am also using them but my cable connection is provided by another company. Never install their Total Access package though, it's horrible. I've had my computer crashed a few times. Hope you'll get your connection back soon.

I feel your pain, OW. Last week I decided to ditch AT&T and get cable internet because AT&T has been getting slower and slower, and many times when I clicked on a link, my computer would freeze up and I'd have to restart the computer every time. Anyway, I ordered my cable internet to be set up the next afternoon, so I tried calling AT&T to cancel the phone line/internet access. I tried and tried, kept getting put on hold. At one time, after about 20 or 25 min. on hold, I got disconnected!!! Back to square one. So instead of calling the number for the phone, I called the number for the internet (they had already told me I had to personally cancel both). Got right through to the internet number, where the guy told me, I can take care of everything for you!! After all that, and I could have had it done in minutes. You'd think a phone company would have enough people to man their phone lines.

are you silly MMM, they contract that "service" out to other companies. I know Comcast does cause I worked doing that for a month once. I know nothing about what I was "helping" people to fix, but that is how most people who are on the lines are (well I can't speak for the ones in India, but that is true of the ones in the US)
