  2. CW, hubby didn't woo me with that song. Shake a Tailfeather came out when we were in our middle teens. Actually, we were always saying goodbye so he could go back to school or back to the service. Seems we always heard PP&M singing Leaving on a Jet Plane just before. We almost came to believe that was "our song". :-) Later we decided that Precious and Few by Climmax was our theme song.

  3. I LOVE that song Sharon..Precious and Few...sigh, you never hear it anymore.

  4. I got this from Wikipedia, because I thought I'd heard somewhere that she's never said who the song is about, but most people say Warren Beatty:

There has been much debate over whom exactly the song is about. Popular guesses on the subject include Mick Jagger (who sang uncredited backing vocals on the song), Cat Stevens, Warren Beatty, Kris Kristofferson (with whom she had had brief relationships), unfaithful fiancé William Donaldson, and Simon's ex-husband, James Taylor.

Older folks - remember when everybody's wedding HAD to have the song "Color My World" by Chicago in it?

  5. NNM--Napster lists it as "You're So Vain." They won't tell us; will you, pleeeease?

  6. HM, remember this?
He is now to be among you at the calling of your hearts.
Rest assured this troubadour is acting on his part.

  7. I honestly thought that Carly Simon wrote you're so vain about James Taylor. You mean that's not true????

    *All the wasted years.....*

  8. OMG yes, Leeny. I DO remember that. Wasn't it called "The Wedding Song?"

  9. Okay, can anybody name the song that has the terrific line *I'd like to find your inner child and kick its little ass* ?

  11. Sharon, Cherish by the Association.... bring back memories?

  12. But the stars we could reach were just Starfish on the beach!

In 10th grade our french teacher played the french song that Seasons in the Sun was adapted from. Boy if you thought it was bad in english!

We still will once in a while scream out the chorus in deliberately bad, loud off key singing.

  13. Yes, HM, by Peter, Paul, and Mary.

But, KYKAT, the stars we could reach were just starfish on the beach.

  14. WWM, no but I'd love to hear it...do tell the name so I can head over to Itunes for a DL... (or tell me it isn't worth it, so I don't waste the time)

  15. Leeny, the french song is all about a girl who died and the guy singing it talks about how many people loved her. We got the impression that this dead french girl "loved" a lot of people!

  16. Sur la place de la matin, il y avait un garcon.
Assit devant l'etalage, il y vendait les balloons.
"C'est pour vous, pas pour moi, venez, achetez bien vite!
Profitez de votre chance, car ces balloons sont magique!"

But you have to make sure no little arrows come near them; then, they aren't worth buying.

  21. I loved the Wedding Song by Paul Stukey. Couldn't stand Seasons in the Sun. Cherish and Windy by the Association were great songs. Maybe there only songs. Well, no, Along Comes Mary did well, too.

  22. Seasons in the Sun, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I've always wondered why some songs are even popular.

Anybody familiar with this little gem by Elton John?

  23. Don't forget this classic.

Brandy, you're a fine girl, what a good wife you would be. But my life my love my lady is sea!

    Posted 4 years ago by KYKAT 12 23 #

  24. WWM, thanks... Wow, I'm an Eagles fan too, can't believe I didn't recognize it. Perhaps a Don Henley lyric?

Posted 4 years ago by kittymom #

  25. Excuse me, those of you mocking the Wedding Song...that was the song at MY WEDDING!!!

In my defense, I was only 24 when I got married. And it was the 80's, everything was different then.

  26. How about some old Doobie Brothers. You know, when they were cool. Before Michael MacDonald came along and screwed them up.

When the sun comes up in a sleepy little town

  27. Kittymom, it is Don Henley. Great song!

  28. I met him at the candy store
He turned around and smiled at me
You get the picture? (yes, we see)
    That's when I fell for..........

  29. Carly Simon Hit was "Ballad of a Vain Man". She was married to James Taylor at the time and in interviews stated it was not about him.

The Beaty connection is that he called her and thanked her for the song.

She says it is a composite of three vain men she has known and will not name them as it would not be fair.

  30. I was a young girl when that freaky song came about the tree how big it's grown, blah blah. I didn't understand and was frightened by:

One day while I was not at home, while she was there and all alone, the angels came.

    What the...?
