  1. I just need to know if I can feed this kitten soy milk until I can get my hands on the tiger milk...thanks

  2. No,soy milk is not actually milk it comes from beans, please feed her KMR(KittenMilk replacement). I have fed my kittens evaporated milk(not sweetened condensed) until I could get KMR but since that kitten is so young she needs KMR. Is there a rescue around that could take care of this kitten? Kittens that young are very hard to take care of. What happened to the mother cat?

  3. Please tell us how you came to have a six hour old kitten. Where is its mother? The best milk is the mother's milk. If it is necessary to bottle feed this kitten, use a properly formulated milk such as KMR (available in most pet stores). There are lots of websites that can tell you more about caring for newborn kittens.

I don't know if soy milk is OK to use or not. I do know that cow's milk is not good for kittens. I would give the kitten water by bottle or syringe and immediately get the proper formula.

Please keep posting and let us know how this kitten is doing. There are many people on this site who are very knowledgable. Welcome to TDK!

And yes, please make sure the kitten is kept warm at all times. Pls update.

And what exactly is tiger milk? You found an orphan kitten or tiger cub???? Sorry, had to make sure. :P

  7. No soy milk as I said it's not milk,here are some short term formulas;
    Homemade Recipe for Short-term Use

    One such formula consists of:
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • 2 egg yolks
    • 2 teaspoonfuls of Karo syrup

    Another similar recipe is:
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 1 teaspoon Karo or maple syrup per pint mixture
    • 1 teaspoon brewer's yeast or bee pollen per pint mixture
    • A vitamin-mineral supplement like Fauve or Vital Nutrition.

    12oz of water
    1 envelope Knox Gelatin
1 12oz can of whole evaporated milk (not skim)
    2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons plain yogurt, not nonfat

Boil the water, add the gelatin - stir well. Add the following
ingredients in order, mixing well after each addition:

1/2 of canned milk (canned goats milk preferred)
    mayonnaise and yogurt
    the rest of the milk

  8. here's the site where I got this,I hope it gives you some ideas until you can get to the store. Good luck and please keep in touch. I think calories are of the utmost importance now to keep the baby's blood sugar up.

  9. Like minds Buttercup. I just found the same formulas.

Just my usual reminders about massaging the stomach after meals and stimulating elimination by wiping the bottom with a warm washcloth or cottonball.

  10. I'm glad you are experienced with hand-raising abandoned kittens. You are wonderful to give them a chance to survive and find forever homes. :)

  11. Thanks ailuromaniac and Buttercup, that is great info...I've had no experience with wee babies, Good luck roll. Glad you logged in for this expert advice.

  12. Rool, The first recipe Buttercup posted is about the best you're going to find, other than KMR (kitten milk replacer). Cow's milk doesn't have enough fat or carbohydrates for kittens, which is why the recipes adds egg yolks (fat) and corn syrup (carbohydrates). Keep the kitten warm, stimulate the kitten for elimination, and well, if you've done this before then you know the rest!
