Well, our ordeal with our little Horace is now over.
Saturday, Stacey came over with her man friend to retrieve the little rascal. We were not able to get a trap as the local ASPCA wanted a $50.00 deposit in loaning out a cage. None of us were in a position to do that so we reverted to plan B. She brought over a mesh bag sort of thing that she borrowed from the vet’s office and we went hunting. She also brought over a sedative to calm him down if we needed it. We searched for him high and low and finally found him in the basement. I was just about to grab him when he darted past all of us and off to the Attic he went. His favorite hiding place up there is in one of the eves, in the corner. Let me tell you that is a very difficult place to work with. We tried and tried to coax him out but no dice. We tried to do an injection but he kept on trying to bite the needle. Finally we figured a way to do it.
Now, picture the scene. Three of us are dusty & dirty in the overheated Attic, trying desperately to get our little Horace out. We ended up duct taping the syringe to a yard stick and attaching another stick to the first stick to use to push the plunger. While one person distracted the cat in the front, Stacey was able to do a quick jab in the back. Within 10 minutes he was down but he was so wedged in that we had to pry him out as he had his legs stuck in a hole. Finally he was free!!! Her man friend pulled him out and they wanted to put him in the meshy thing (totally useless if you ask me). I said NO WAY! After all we went thru to get him out, he is going in a carrier! I picked him up and whisked him away. When he finally made it to the carrier, we all breathed a sigh of relief. He was on his way to the vet’s office for the weekend where she will clean him up, have the vet check him on Monday, then have him neutered. His E.T.A. in his new furrever home is Tuesday!
We all cried tears of joy that she finally has him back. She knows that she will have lots of work ahead of her in dealing with him but she is up to the challenge. She should have internet service starting today so when she has a chance she is going to check us out at TDK and join our group. I have told her all about our loving family and she is looking forward to making the introductions and speaking with our very experience kitty people!! She will be needed lots of advice and ideas.
Thanks to all for your good thoughts and prayers, once again the TDK white light saves the day!

No, I can't imagine Horace being too happy when he wakes up but there are worse things that could happen. He could have been awake when she gave him a bath!
Have no fear, when Horace gets home, he will be spoiled rotten as Stacey and Cloe have lots of catching up to do with the prodigal kitty!

Debster...do you know of ANY other ways of tranquilizing an animal other than syringe? I need desperately to catch the Siameezer & have failed in EVERY other way. Was your friend a vet tech. or something? I'm so lost as to what else to do to catch her. She can get pregnant again at any time. :(

Hahahaha! Great news! When all else fails....DRUG 'EM!!!!! Horace...you won't be sorry... :)
Susie...aside from medicated blow darts..I don't know how you're gonna outsmart that danged Siameezer..She's one evasive little momma. Keep your antenna up though..she has to let her guard down SOMETIME doesn't she????????

Susie, Stacey is a vet tech so she did have access to the tranquilizer. Is it possible for you to talk to a local vet and get something that can be put into Siameezers food? Maybe something similar to what they use when cats need to be sedated for travel? Other than that I don't have anything else to offer other than to try the trap that we originally wanted to use for Horace.

Very true, this must be done only under the best of control situation. Better to stick with the cage.

Debster...there are very few adult ferals out there now. Just Siameezer & Hopper(which Hopper has not been around in a couple of days) & Naughtyboy & Prettygirl (siameezer's boy & girl from a past litter). She comes to eat every morning, probably meaning to rub it all in my face.

Wow, what a story, worth writing it down as a story for the kids, maybe even from Horace's point of view. Congratulations to all involved.

Good morning friends! I have another little update on our darling Horace. Believe it or not but when Horace awoke he was almost back to being the Horace that Stacey and Cloe have been missing. Stacey was able to hold, pet, and snuggle with him quite comfortably!! Yes, I was shocked too as that wasn't the Horace that drove all us us nuts for a week when he visited with us. Stacey is beyond happy right now as she never thought she would ever have HER baby back. Just goes to show that miracles do happen and we should all remember to NEVER say never!!
