  2. Arrrrrrrgh, some more!!!!!
My best friend just called me and told me her husband had a proposition for me - I told her absolutely not, I will NOT be propositioned by friend's husbands!!! Bad for the friendship!!! :)
Anyway, he's a dentist - and my dentist, too, and they've both been great over the years. He's now thinking of updating his prices and wants to find out what other places around here charge for different procedures. He of course doesn't want to use his home, cell or office phone to call around, so they'll know who he is and what he's doing. Sooooo..... just in case I don't have enough things to do, Ive now been hired to spend a few hours making phone calls to local dentists to check out the prices of the competition!!!!
I asked my friend if I could wear a trenchcoat, smoke a pipe and wear a Sherlock Holmes hat to sort of get myself in the spirit! :) So, her husband will make me a list of things to ask for and then I will report back! I figure I can make the calls here from the office when Boss is out and I have nothing else to do. I'll help out my friends, make a little money and entertain myself pretending to be a super sleuth!

  3. Wow, GD! You sure are good at landing extra jobs. Now if only you could clone yourself to help out. I did the two job thing at one time or another but coudldn't do it now even if I was paid really well. When I was working in operations at a large financial institution, I would work 6am-1:30pm and the office was on the fifth floor. Then at 2pm I would go to work at the street level in an Apple only computer store. I would work there from 2-7 Mon-Fri starting in October and then by Dec 1st, I was working 2-9pm Mon- Fri. I had the weekend off which helped me recouperate. I made some good extra money and because we met and exceeded out sales, I got a nice $400 bonus check in time to make it a really merry christmas for me. I was actually making enough money with both jobs that I would sometimes forget to cash my check from the computer store. Unfortunately the store closed as the chain couldn't compete with Apple stores. I really liked that job and enjoyed the people I worked with.

Sounds like a lot of work, Karin, but cool that it was so close and that you enjoyed the work environment - that makes all the difference!

  5. Cat care question: I noticed today that one of the claws on Chris' back left leg was sticking out farther than the others — it wasn't retracting like it should have. Does that just mean he's about to shed it? I don't have to help him, do I (he can be intimidating)?

  7. Catherine, it sounds like he's going to shed his claw. You don't have to do anything to help, it will just fall off when it is ready.

  8. i'm broke too...i had to buy a vacumn cleaner and the cheapest one was 99.00 plus tax, and then rent due tomorrow, and a three-month car ins. bill and gas money...

no money to buy groceries, but the cupboards, fridge, and freezer are full at the moment, plus i know a great soup kitchen that is open once a week, plus there some really good food banks in the area that don't need dss or medicaid or medicare cards...kitties are eating on sample bags, which my mom can get for me at her vet's...

we're doing ok, things will be much better in 2 weeks, but no luxuries for right now...
