  1. Sitting in front of the computer, trying to get some work done so I don't have to use up what little leave I have left.

I was proud of myself, I didn't need a pain pill for my shoulder yesterday! And movement is almost normal!

However, this morning... *sigh* I need to put a big, glow-in-the-dark sign in my bedroom that says "DO NOT TRY TO PUSH YOURSELF UP FROM THE BED WITH YOUR LEFT ARM". *whines, cries, takes a pain pill*

    How're y'all?

  3. Good morning, CrazyCatman! I am making a big pot of Assam tea, and spinach, tomato and feta omelets. Big cleaning and yardwork day, then I'm off with a friend to see REO Speedwagon at Chastain. I won the tickets so it is a real treat! Glad your kitties let you sleep in. That's a good feeling on a Saturday morning.

  10. Bear claws??!!

Please tell me this is another example of the language divide!!

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  11. Yes another example..Bearclaws are a pastry, sometimes filled with pudding. They get their name from the way the look. :-)

  12. Tee Hee. A bear claw is a rather large pastry that has several cuts on one edge making it resemble a bear's claw. Picture found here (scroll down)

  13. For lunch I think I'll have a "can my butt look any bigger meal and a bucket of please keep your shirt on".

  14. LOL, Crazycatman!

  15. "pastry sometimes filled with pudding" - another language divide. As far as I am concerned pudding is what you eat after your main meal, it could be ice-cream, fruit salad, cooked cakey type pudding, apple pie, crumble .......
In Germany pudding is like angel delight, a sort of sweet milky blancmangey type of stuff. What do you mean by pudding?

  19. OK Polly's Mum (see main site again), but only 'cos I love little Mikey (I was NOT built for bikers leathers!!!)

  20. Sorry, we lost him, but I'm planning the next move!

Let's have chilled white wine while we think what to do next.

  21. Polly's Mum: Below is a pic (and a great recipe that I've used many times!)of what we refer to as pudding in the states. I believe you refer to it as custard. The recipe is for butterscotch, my personal favorite, but I think most of the chocoholics on the site would prefer chocolate pudding! And, of course, there are many different flavors and variations.

  22. Pudding in the US is essentially a custard, but usually with agar or something else holding it together rather than just eggs.

Bear claw dough is really flaky, sometimes baked, sometimes deep-fried. Lots of layers, about three times thicker than, say, phyllo dough.

The kind of treat that in the real world, clogs up your arteries for the next fifty years!

  23. Thank you one and all. Now I understand, a pastry stuffed with custard.
