  3. Could be nervousness and anxiety -I had a cat who pulled her fur out like that and was put on valium to calm her down. It helped, too!

  5. Depending upon the age of the cat, there might be some discomfort from arthritis involved. One of mine had a severe case and licked herself raw. The vet gave her some medication to ease the pain and she eventually grew the fur back.

  10. Thank you so much Sammy for coming and telling us how Goldie is doing. So glad you've gotten to the bottom of it. What a relief it must be for you.
I'm curious as to how you're dealing with her stress. Is she receiving medication for it or have you managed to eliminate the cause of the stress? She's such a pretty Orangie! I looked through her pics and really love the 'Sharing' photo and the 'Peek A Boo'....What a sweet girl!

  13. That is good news Sammy. My first cat Whiskers use to pull her fur out on her front paws. She would pull it all out to the skin. My vet at the time did several different tests on her but couldn't find out the problem. I have a feeling that it was either due to my moving too much, her being an only kitten, the runt of a litter of five kittens, and her being seperated from the mama cat at only six weeks of age. I read the article that was provided earlier and I recall her sucking on an old wool sweater. I should have saved the sweater for her to suck so that she would have stopped pulling out her fur. Poor Whiskers. May she rest in peace.

  15. We did use Feliway for a month when we first got her, helping calm her fears because of being in a new environment etc. That's really didn't keep her from pulling her fur out but it helped to get her to come close to us because her disposition was far better. Then, I petted her every time I went by her and talked to her and now she has settled in and when I happened to pick her up the other night and look at her belly and legs the fur was back I was happy to see that. I was worried for a while.
