Well now....KM and all....I perfectly understand the power of the written word even in a medium so transient as the "blog" -- from its glorification of the mundane to its sneaky innuendo and often "malicious whispering" that can be clothed so delicately in prose. I know how it perverts the intent of the writer and can corrupt the innocent with its sway. I also know the power of the REPORT button and I, oh so humbly, cede to its abuse and perceived "need" by a few. I can be censored, I can be REPORTED, I can, in fact be wrong -- but I defend my position to SPEAK my truth no matter what the consequences because I am willing to suffer them (the consequences that is), especially in a "cafe" where I have "cyberly" dwelled for so long. I am not angry, nor am I sad -- the friendships I have made are mine and mine alone and I take them with me. I do not argue that there is a need to have a "place" where dirty laundry can be aired and greater issues be ignored -- where someone can be free from the stressors of life and, with gaity, skirt the issues to frolic in a sun-kissed fantasyland. But I ALSO do believe you can be "fluffy" and still make room for growth and knowledge -- and THAT only comes with information and an ability and willingness to see beyond the end of your nose and make room in your heart for that world that "happens" beyond your nose. I was, at one time, able to experience that in this blog. No longer. I just don't want to leave without letting you all know that I will miss a lot of you and your comments, but I see the TDK now as being a place where there are blatent attempts by some members to take over the site and make it an exclusive club -- where monies are asked for and meted out -- memberships are given according to conformity --and free-thinking and world events are TABOO. Please don't be fooled by popular opinion, people....and, if you are able, open your hearts to the innocent and abandoned who cannot speak for themselves. As my friend, Dee, has so fervently advocated for on this site...contribute and petition for the ethical treatment of animals. May God bless you all. (BTW - please don't ask for the Archangel Michael's white light if your mother's cousin's friend's uncle's sister's co-worker's roommate needs to get a fast closing on their real-estate deal. It's not a good idea to call on the power of such an angel without the proper reverence, humility, or pressing need. There are other lesser angels to call on for this.) Mysterium tremendum et fascinans, is it not?

CR, I think someone didn't realize you were being humerous and ironic in the cafe. I got you. Unfortunately I am at work today with limited time to pop in or I would have said something in your defense earlier. Stay or go, I support you in your decision. You have my email, please keep in touch.

I wouldn't argue with any of that, CR - sorry to see you go. As for the way you see the site being taken over by some groups of people, there are probably others who feel completely differently, and in the end it's simply the result of the way online communities have always developed, and always will. They ebb, they flow, and the changes make sure they're not for everyone, and certainly not for all time. Best of luck.

Thanks KM, best of luck to you, too! I realize that this is the way with online communities and I have discussed this site with many people in terms of a "little microcosm of society." I often wondered if sometimes people don't start one just for a sociology experiment -- would make a great thesis paper, don't you think? I could get my PHD just writing about this one! HA! Join me in the Bad Cat Bar for a farewell toast if you get the chance. You're picking up the tab, right? ha-ha!
